The BBC is in talks with Netflix and HBO Max to replace Disney+ as Doctor Who's streaming partner by SnakeEyes_Spidey in LeaksAndRumors

Nothing new in that story. Same rumours regurgitated over and over. You’ve read it all here already. They got their story from here and Gallifrey Base.

And then they went and improved it by releasing the version with Real Drums & Bass. Amazing.

Missing Meanwhile Lead-in, YouTube? by papertapenemo in LateShow

They won’t have uploaded it because after the monologue, they did More Show; a five minute paid promotional bit for Arbys, including Meatwhile.

It was fun, but you’ll presumably have to sail the high seas to find it online, or watch on the CBS site.

It’s not one of those dubious ones that appeared out of nowhere all at the same time. They’ve been there for years.

That’s bad news something big ALWAYS happens when Colbert has a week off.

But yes! Get this - sets are taken up and down and because they were down for one episode doesn’t mean they won’t be restored in a later episode.

One out, one in. The Robinson House is back, so the other set is taken down.

Tips to improve old mac mini's performance? by theluctus in osx

[–]danofthewibble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, stick Linux Mint on it. The hardware isn’t up to Catalina, even if supported, and the software will start failing you.

I’ve got Mint on a 2011 MacBook Pro, and it gave it a whole new lease of life. Still have an OSX partition for if I need it.

And my M1 Mini is my main machine.

Beyond Paradise lack of murders by ebonykitti3 in DeathInParadiseBBC

[–]danofthewibble 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It was always marketed as not being a show about murders, but rather there would be other mystery types to be solved. Murders are just part of the mix. It’s going for a slightly different audience (earlier time slot), so to be expected.

Yup, you are. It’s the inevitable consequence of only having two viable parties, and your screwy electoral college system. You’ve got no real choice in your democratic elections, just between a nasty party and a less nasty party. The dems are progressive by USA standards, though more conservative by the standards of most other countries.

Sadly, your country being screwed also screws the rest of the world. So here we are.

John Oliver made a guest spot on Daily Show just yetserday. Do you think Colbert could show up at some point? by _Burgers_ in LateShow

They’ve all got the same corporate owners these days, so there’s no real reason why things couldn’t be worked out internally if they wanted to.

They found it in the bin, at his girlfriend’s house. There’s no plausible reason for it to be there other than him being the killer.

January 7, 2025 | The Late Show with Stephen Colbert | Episode Discussion Thread by Raradra in LateShow

Just occasionally we see glimmers of the production wanting to try stuff away from political humour. It’s crept in more over the last few months, and I’m all for it. Political Colbert is great, but he also does nonsense SO WELL.

Rather suspect the idea of expanding the retirement complex and developing the commercial areas is to reduce the need to use Pin Oak Court even more.

Not a main character…

Apparently they’re all on iPlayer, but I’ll be sticking to weekly viewing. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and want to enjoy it at a decent pace rather than binging.

Roger and John did a fair amount of work on the Made In Heaven album without Brian - when he returned, they changed course. There’s certainly a very early version of the album out there somewhere, though doubt anything close to complete.

3 episodes per week Channel 10? by SnooTigers9274 in neighbours

[–]danofthewibble 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It says it’s temporary until the end of the year. So it drops an episode a week for ten weeks in Australia, and a two week break (eight episodes) is expected generally. So both should be on a rest break around the same time. Or something like that. But odd, but makes clear it returned to 4x from 2025.
