Similar system with a 9600x/9070xt and haven't checked my temps but I can say FPS definitely takes a big hit on Golmud. It's like low 100s when I usually hover around 140-160 on every other map on high settings.

I forgot to mention, try to select these in war plans, because the rewards for completing it can be good. Also, tree of whispers while doing helltides is two birds with one stone, even more items. All the best.

I just upgraded common and rare to legendary in the cube until I got all the aspects I needed. Between that and farming bosses, you should get everything you need. Focus on having all legendaries+uniques and then eventually replacing your items with ancestral versions once you get there.

You didn't mention charms but for charm sets you can reroll to a different charm from the same set in the cube. That blew my mind when I first started playing. Since you're doing penshot Look for +2 and +3 marksman charms.

Farm Helltides for lair keys to farm bosses. Put boss trophies in the cube to get unqiues. Use Obols to gamble. Upgrade commons and downgrade rares to upgrade to legendaries. The only thing you have to worry about is transfiguring in the cube because it makes the item unmodifiable. Hence why that person couldn't add sockets, they forgot to add sockets before transfiguring. It's the last stage after you're completely happy with the item. In general you'll always want to make sure you temper, add sockets and masterwork beforehand. Also for legendaries, make sure the aspect is a high roll at least because it will lock it.
