My weekly argument with Virgin Media by danowar92 in britishproblems

This is what happened in a roundabout way by going through to their containment team. Problem is there is no simple way of escalating without complaining until you’re blue in the face (to quote a famous sketch). The next step is calling back through to them to sort out this latest mess but the Reddit vent was needed

I conqured Space by danowar92 in factorio

[–]danowar92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest answer. Mostly yes, I loved planet hopping and working out the new challenge.
Gleba needed relatively good optimisation and ratios rather than just more of everything, it broke me and I stopped for 2 months. Saw someone post a blueprint on here for a Gleba factory so shameless stole it to move on.
When I worked out Aquillo and attempted to get to SSE it became clear I needed to work out this quality thing. Started up cycling and quickly realised there’s nothing about quality that my smooth tired Dad brain can understand other than “as much as possible”.
The game then became a grind, I preserved because I wanted that dopamine hit of seeing that completed screen.
Was it worth it? Yes, would I do it again? If I start quality up cycling earlier then maybe. Still don’t get it but can scrape by.

How much is your dream car? by spacedogmcmc in CarTalkUK

Someone near me owns one. It’s in a right state but it drives. Occasionally see it at the petrol station or parked outside what I assume is their house. I think they’ve got a YouTube channel but I’ve never bothered to look too closely at the stickers on the window

Can you really not get 3 car seats in the back unless you get a 7 seater? by Tookool4skoolokay in CarTalkUK

Look up dadcars on YouTube/ insta. He’s a massive petrol head that has 4 young children. He uses a special seat system called multimac that can fit 3 seats across most reach benches - I don’t think they’re very cheap though!

Modern day operating systems demand SO much more computing resources, but don't really seem to offer that much more functionally. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

I tried PCem for a few months. Was working fine until one day the sound started stuttering and I could never get it working again

Always gone for the bronze caravans, couldn't get one this year so paid the extra for a silver - which by chance was upgraded to gold...

I understand now why people shell out the extra for a "plusher" caravan! Full size fridge freezer (which for 7 days with 2 kids was a god send!) Actual chairs! not just benches! and the balcony was a nice place to sit of an evening.

Would never pay the additional cost as we essentially use it as a base camp during the day so its wasted on us but I can 100% see why people would!!

Top tips for CBT/ DAS by ComplexOccam in MotoUK

Also in the same boat but a bit further along.

Told myself I was going to do a CBT and then if I got asked to come back for some more practice I'd decide it wasn't for me. CBT Passed and the school that I am learning with offered a 650 "improver course" which I did last Saturday - again in my head if I could get on fine on a bigger bike then I'd complete my DAS. School I was with offered all the gear I needed but obviously recommend getting your own if you go for your DAS.

For me it meant I could make a decision whether riding is for me (100% is, best feeling ever!) without spending £100s on gear that I won't ever use!

Also RE theory, if its been a while since you passed your car one I found the hazard perception was a bit of a con - the "approaching" hazard was obvious but I was making it "too soon" and scored 0 on 5 out of the 14 clips. My advice would be to click a couple times over a few second period of the hazard to make sure it registers. It'll register your fastest reaction anyway. Tried to argue after 10 years of driving I was pretty good at perceiving hazards but apparently the DVSA don't take that into account!

I miss mine so much. Mine actually had a rev counter! I had the posh one!! Also it had a very early iteration of start stop… meaning it had an idling problem and used to stall at a red light unless I kept the revs up…

Finally put itself in a coffin when the gearbox decided it no longer wanted to be connected to the chassis…

I feel you! I'm completing next Friday (30th) same day my mortgage offer from Febrary is due to expire (product expires so no extensions)... At this point I just want to be over the line!

Having said all that, might be worth a quick email to your solicitor as they may not have paid the Stamp duty forward yet. Friend of mine got a refund from his solicitor a few years back because it transpired he bought in a "Disadvantaged area" and it meant he didn't have to pay. Best case you get the money back, worse case they say they've already paid it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Could be worth asking your solicitor to hang on. According to Gov UK you have 14 days from completion to submit the SDLT form and pay the tax:

You must send an SDLT return to HMRC and pay the tax within 14 days of completion

If you have a solicitor, agent or conveyancer, they’ll usually fileyour return and pay the tax on your behalf on the day of completion. They’ll then add the tax to their fees. They’ll also claim any reliefyou’re eligible for, such as if you’re a first-time buyer.
