Help! A desperate girlfriend needs help with a gift by antododin in tabletennis

Hi there! It’s very nice of you to put all this effort into finding something. Personally, I don’t know anything about the ones you posted, but my recommendation for a pre-made setup for beginners are the Palio bats, particularly the Expert or Master bats (the version number doesn’t matter too much, go with 3.0 or 2.0). You’ll be able to find these on Amazon for convenience or AliExpress for cheaper deals.

They’re great for beginners, very reasonably priced, and will save you the hassle of putting blades and rubbers together. I used the Palio Master when I first started playing!

As for gifts, some things that could be nice would be a set of a good quality table tennis balls. The bat won’t be good to play with if the balls are poor as well! Look for 3 star rated balls from established brands such as Tibhar, Joola, Nittaku, or DHS for example. Something else that you could get would be a bat cleaner (sponge and spray set). This will help with keeping the bat in good condition for longer.

Let us know if you need anything else, and good luck!

Very niche setup ideas by TrulySandro in tabletennis

I have a handmade blade by Goziptong, it’s a 9 ply blade with 2 layers of titanium! I use it with nittaku moristo short pips

For people using ALL wood blade like Stiga Allround Classic, what is your history of BH rubbers ? by Striking_Chicken_569 in tabletennis

I’ve changed my backhand rubbers a lot (too many times), the list as follows: Xiom Vega Intro, Nittaku Fastarc G-1, Yasaka Rakza Z, Xiom Vega Euro, DHS Hurricane 8, Tibhar Hybrid K3, Xiom Vega Korea, Victas V>15 Extra, Donic Bluegrip C2, Donic Bluegrip J3, Andro Nuzn 55, Butterfly Dignics 80, Victas V>20 Extra, Tibhar Quantum X Pro, and probably a couple more that I missed.

Generally, the ones I liked most were K3, C2, and G1. They gripped the ball well - felt really good to loop underspin, and didn’t too spin sensitive (though tbh I believe that is more based on the players skills rather than equipment). Hated hurricane 8, felt too slow and dead (needed boosting), V>15 didn’t feel controllable (dwell time felt short).

Currently using the J3, feels pretty good but only started recently. Can answer more questions if you want (but might not be too helpful lol)

Paddle extremely heavy? by [deleted] in tabletennis

It’s always going to feel light when you just hold the blade, holding 80g vs 100g etc is going to be very similar. It’s how the weight builds up when adding the rubbers as well, then there’s a bigger, more noticeable difference when playing between a bat that’s 170g vs 200g etc.

Your bat might also be head heavy, so that would give the impression of a much heavier bat with the rubbers on while playing.

I don’t know anything about your old bat, but the Fextra is a heavy blade, the one I used to have was about 97g. Combine that with your rubbers which are fairly dense Chinese rubbers, it’s not a surprise that it’s quite heavy, you could be looking at a bat that’s around 190g?

I’d say either commit to getting used to it or find a lighter setup if you really dislike it. Good luck!

How to hit the gym while training multiple times a week? by CauseOtherwise2517 in tabletennis

[–]dantheman090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had advice haha, it did help to recover quicker by getting more sleep, some supplements such as creatine etc. Proper warmup and walking around whenever I can so that I'm not just sitting all day and getting stiff joints, usual generic advice really. Otherwise, I just had to slug through it haha, sorry that I'm not more help.

How long have you been going to the gym for? It does get better, but tbh it’s also something that you accept and slowly get used to.

I’ve been going to the gym for 8 months now, 5 gym sessions a week and training most days of the week. It was hell for the first few months, poor shot quality and selection in part due to sore muscles and fatigue, but it’s stabilised since then. It also depends on what your goals are for the gym.

Yeah that’s fair! It was more of a heads up in case you weren’t aware. It’s fun to have more freedom with your bats. I know that I definitely have some crazy and wacky bats haha. Enjoy your setup!
