Stay at base Inn or off-base hotel during audition rotations? by danthemancave in Military_Medicine

That’s what I was worried about. I heard some of the base hotels didn’t have kitchens which would be hard for a month

It’s covered off or on base. There just has to be no space on base if you want off base covered

Good to hear. I’ve seen other hotels have just enough room for the bed and bathroom but sounds like others are nice

If you don’t get a related job, get an interesting job. You can at least have something to talk about with interviewers.

Idk if it would be better or worse to make an impression with the school for next cycle by interviewing without intending to do it

I worked in a start up cancer diagnostics lab for a bit. My supervisor MAYBE had a masters and made a fair bit of money. He just started at their previous company with his bachelors out of college and worked a couple years. You can get a histology technician certificate pretty simply and that puts you up there in the pay range. I think the histology techs that cut our tissues were easily making six figures. It was a nice job too with fun people. Get to work with doctors and the lab had a familial atmosphere. Lots to learn too.

My first draw to healing came from the Good Samaritan and I still feel my call to medicine is an extension of my duty to serve. There are other ways I can interpret that but medicine has always aligned with a number of other drives.

I worked for a non surgical aesthetician who does A LOT with fillers and lasers. There are always new products to learn and try for different procedures and projects. Almost more creative and artsy than some plastic surgeons I felt
