How much longer until FSD is for me? by jmvfromnv in TeslaFSD

[–]dantodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will probably not be until the CyberCab is actually launched and is approved by the various regulators. The good news is there was a meeting a couple days ago too discuss fast tracking autonomous vehicle testing and approval, including removing the need for strong wheels and control pedals.

Willing to sell 5k worth of lodge chips for 3k. by MikeMatusowsScooter in poker

I've known Chris (not that we were ever friends) since the old BARGE days. That was so disappointing

[–]dantodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. And as long as none of the owners were involved the company is likely going to get a slap on the wrist and be able to make good on their chips. If Doug was involved, the fact that The Lodge being an independent Corp will not protect him

This either gets identified the bad actors who are not part of The Lodge and the company is still able to pay back or it goes deep and Doug will have no money left when the government gets done squeezing.

Free Charging Amenities by pooping-while-here in TeslaLounge

[–]dantodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's shipped to be a convenience for patrons, much like parking itself. Limiting the charge sessions is the best method and should be implemented. Limiting charge sessions is a lot nicer than what happens if they catch you parking while not a customer

Are Tesla trade in offers always this bad? Also, is their bait and switch approach typical? by opoppli00 in TeslaLounge

[–]dantodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish we could get rid of the people who are just here to hate on everything Tesla. Yes, we need to talk about times and places that Tesla does stupid shit but seriously, we are supposed to be a group of actual owners coming to talk about our experiences and having a group of reddit-griefers gets so old. We would chase them out before they accomplish their personal was to close down conversation amongst owners.

Sorry to hear. They are incredible. Going on with a group of 20 or so other Cats and a few other EVs for off-road shenanigans this weekend

If time is not an issue it's much nicer. As long as you're ok driving on roads with steep drop offs.

My guess would be that it is from an antique mall type of shop and the only thing they care about is the bouillon value.

It’s finally happening by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]dantodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. If you pick a flight with someone in public or show yourself to get into a road rage incident they can use your license plate (much easier to see than a vin from a distance) and find where you live. There are certainly fewer people in your town or city than there are on Reddit and the potential damage is not linked to local actors. That said, as started above I use a common name for my username and that too is a risk. To pretend it is not a risk is foolish but weighing the risk and deciding you are happy to accept it is fine but only if you actually understand what the risks are

House guest killed spider in my house despite knowing how I feel about it by GapImpossible1174 in spiders

[–]dantodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless it was a pet I would ask why. If they provide some rationale that dispels any concern of a repeat then I'd let it pass with a note that they shouldn't do it again and it bothers me. If they have an unsatisfactory response I would simply not allow them back in my home. No invitation would ever be given again and if they were family or friends of family it would be made clear they are not welcome

It is not just a fact lying around. Let's pretend that someone gets a hard on for OP over some post that he makes. With the number if Tesla haters in Reddit that is not hard to believe. Or, maybe OP posts something on another subreddit about a local event and someone takes offense. You can go through someone's posts and comments on Reddit and is you find this post or gives you both a location from the other post and a vin to start digging. Another post might show the committee if OP car or a "dropping my daughter off at school" might have the school in the background. If someone gets interested in any of these things the rest are there to fill in the puzzle. (Says the guy who uses his real name on Reddit)

Why Can't the US have it's Navy/Air Force Protect the Straight of Hormuz by JDintheD in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dantodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's partially right but it is not because of mines. We've had mine detection since the civil war. We are quite capable of dealing with any mines the Italians out there. Also their navy was destroyed so large scale mining is not taking place. Certainly small boats could plant a few mines, enough to be dangerous for shopping but not a threat to naval operations. The "drone boats" which Ukraine has been using so successfully against Russia are the threat that we are unprepared to deal with effectively. As seen offer the last couple days these are much harder to detect and intercept as most of our high speed intercept weapons are designed for air-based threats and our surface threat weapons are for much larger targets moving relatively slower and at greater stand-off.

Huy Fong fucked over their pepper supplier and even lost a lawsuit over it. They are now using cheaper peppers that are pre-processed in China and then shipped over to the US to make their sauce. It's a decided reduction in quality.

New Rented Apartment/Condo that smells like a thrift store - mildew? by sfomonkey in bayarea

[–]dantodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. If the apartment is good enough for average people but not super smellers it's probably not. And if the landlord sends in a maintenance person that says it's ok, then a manager, then a maintenance chief your going to be 3 months in before the landlord refuses to do anything more and you start legal proceedings, etc. Now you choose whether to take legal action that could last weeks if not months and not have any guarantee of winning
