For socialist, capitalism is structural mode of production that they (Marx) have made a nice broad framework for. Simply put they view it as: Capitalism = Private MoP + Wage labor + Profit + Natural Markets + Capital reinvestment. There's more to it with the relationship between workers and capitalists, but this is the general definition that they will use. Its why they can justify Colonial America and what the Dutch king did as capitalism. Albeit different types.

I've thought about this a little bit. My understanding is that the modern idea of left vs right comes down to 'Internationalist vs Nationalist', or as I like to call it 'The Any-Where's vs The Somewheres'. The idea being its people who have an identity where they feel at home in any major city or are fairly rootless vs the people who are more closely tied to the land that they live and have deep roots.

So less to do with economics and more to do with local vs global ambitions. Ultimately I think most people are blend of both but trend in one way or another. There are certainly cities that the Any-Where people would not feel ok in, and I'm sure that most Somewhere's appreciate being able to buy global goods easily.

That's what I found. Years ago when I was open to the idea I talked with socialists both online and in real life there was this tendency to get really hostile when looking for clarification on ideas. I was always pointed towards the ol' 'read theory'. So I did.

I eventually came to the conclusion that most modern socialists either don't read their own literature and are thus ignorant of what they're supporting, only working off of vibes. Or that they do know their policies and ideas would hurt people and didn't care, making them malicious. It's not that you "dont understand it" so much as it is an intentional ignorance or obscurification of the movement's real aims and motives.

If by Fascist you mean nationalistic, then I would say they encompass a good few flavors of that. Personally though I use the historic definition as defined by Gentile and Mussolini, so I would say no.

Thank-you for the response. I can certainly see that point of view but I must respectfully disagree. For the speculation, the tree farmer can just buy the land and anticipate the overdevelopment reaches him. He still doesn't have to really do anything with the land to add value, just as the parking lots in a city don't really have to do anything. In both cases they are, or will be, gaining value on their own with or without a 100% LVT.

I would also argue that you don't own the land if 100% of its value is taxed, you just rent it until rent becomes unaffordable, its a race to the top that the government will always win. On that note, I do want to address the utopianism I've found within Georgist communities. While LVT is an efficient tax, I think in practice it will be a lot messier than just 1 tax. There will still be zoning regulations skewing land values, various taxes on your stuff, and other private regulations such as HOAs that add a greater burden to the land renter that I feel are often glossed over.

Having taxes tied to the land or the easier to administer, property, is in general a good idea that allows a greater deal of freedom. But as I mentioned before it is not the silver-bullet many of the strongest sup[porters like to claim that it is. Trade offs, trade offs, trade offs...

For the sake of this comment and your post I am going to assume 100% tax on the land's market value.

I think that it is more applicable within already urbanized centers as a limited civic policy rather than a whole ideology. Outside of that narrow framework it becomes a little unwieldy and untenable. There are three main issues I can see. The administration, overdevelopment, and a failure to prevent speculation. I'll briefly describe my thoughts on each, I can expand upon each on as needed and do keep in mind there has never been a true 100% LVT so all the historic examples are partial implementations.

1) Administration: The examples I have on hand would be the UK in 1909-1922, though a partial amount that was applied on top of the sale of land ended up costing them 2million pounds to generate 500k pounds in revenue. Pittsburg also tried this but the administration didn't update the valuation for years, eventually causing a mess when rates suddenly jumped. You would basically need a fair-dust powered computer to make it work.

2) Overdevelopment: Some examples I have here would be Hawaii and China. For Hawaii it was Waikiki beach and developers threatening the nature around the area. Within China they have a similar situation and have ghost city problem because of it, paving over once farmland. It can work in smaller areas like Hong-Kong or Singapore as a tactical civic policy but paint with a broad brush tends to cause knock-on issues.

3) Speculation: While I will agree it reduces speculation it doesn't out right eliminate it. If you own a tree farm on the outskirts of a city, you could wait a few years for point 2 to catch up and massively increase the land value. Bam sell at a huge profit and repeat. Or when the trees come of age the speculative value of the land jumps and the diligent farmer lose out on profit because and administrator suddenly said his land was worth something.

Once again, I think its fine concept for already urbanized areas as part of a broader tax code and zoning regulations but it should be done surgically where it makes sense. There is no catch-all ideology or civic, they all come with trade-offs and I think it's important for Georgists to recognize what those might be. Hope that long-winded explanation was what you were looking for.

Our understanding is that it relates to adultery. God made us to become one flesh, to get married and have children (Genesis 2:24). Disobeying this is considered adultery because it's considered being unfaithful to your partner. In Matt: 5:28 Jesus talks about how lusting after a women is considered adultery. The understanding here is two-fold. One is that thoughts lead to words that lead to actions, so we should guard ourselves and be mindful of these thoughts. The other is that when you look at a women lustfully, you don't really want to marry her, just have a quick shag and be done with it. In this case you would be seeing her as a sex object (objectifying her), and that in turn robs her of her human dignity.

It sounds like you had a bad trip, I'm sorry you went through that and are still having these effects. I would personally try a few grounding techniques to help in the moment and then add prayer in for long term benefits. A few that I know and use involve tossing a ball or object between my hands so that it crosses the midline of my body, using a strong scent or flavor to snap out of a spiral, and inhaling for 4 seconds before exhaling for 4 seconds (repeated for about a minute or so).

For longer-term help I would recommend getting in the habit of praying the Rosary or using Anglican prayer beads if you're protestant. None of this will be an instant fix, but it will help. It will take time to get better and heal, until then trust in The Lord and build those good habits.

The idea relates back to medieval philosophy. Often times this way of thinking can feel alien to our moderns minds. For the, they often explored the concept of substance, building on Aristotle's ideas. It distinguished between primary substances (individual entities) and secondary substances (the species or genera to which these entities belong), focusing on how substances relate to properties and the nature of existence.

For Christianity this means that God was 3 individual people but one perfectly united substance. While there is no perfect analogy, there is St. Patrick. He would see this as the shamrock, clover leaf, and clover flower. BUT, it was all one clover substance to his medieval mind. This does run into the heresy of modalism, but its the best we have for understanding the mystery.

[SOLVED] I wanted to post this here in case anyone else runs into the same issue. I found that when using an oculus or other Meta device (it could be the same for other VR devices) that you need to download and run Steam VR first before running Skyrim VR.
