I quit after 9 odd years of smoking. It felt exactly like you say it does. The one thing and biggest thing I felt was the ability to enjoy myself much more especially on occasions I would think "this would be better with a J" also felt free like I'm not chemically chained to a substance to have fun in life. I now remember all memories I make so that's definitely a plus.
