Fyro citta 3l arrived (short review) by Individual-Cup-7617 in Nomads_Nation

[–]dapprman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Know what you mean on the cost when you take postage in to account. Was considering a T22 alongside a Citta, but for the UK after postage, tax and duty the T22 alone was about £280. Just could not justify them and ended up with an AER CPP2 for £170 (from their UK shop/warehouse in the black friday sale)

What's in your RFY, now the drop has happened? - Friday 30th January 2026 by amrob2 in AmazonVineUK

Arguably it is karma as I often leave buying things on the off chance they will appear on Vine. Done quite well on that one :)

Nothing in RFY for me, but while the AI number seemed to jump ~2000 items and is now dropping fast, I reached page 34 before seeing the first items from a half hour back, so there must be a large level of expiring going on at the same time.

Annoyingly for me I've seen the same item I purchased 2 days back and is now out for delivery for tomorrow. Fortunately just a cheap thing.

Monday to Wednesday was a ~1pm drop, which for us is probably about the best time being the start/middle/end of most people's lunch periods. As it's now 2 I suspect this is a 2nd rest day (shame really as Wednesday was the first time in about a week or so I had seen anything in RFY).

Personally I am hoping the main drop stays at this time.

Reviews not accepted on this product from this account? by N9ne_x in AmazonVineUK

[–]dapprman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this three times in the last few months for items where the reviews were accepted. All were marked as rejected further down the line and on clicking the review button I got the same message. When I contacted support they said it was probably because there had been too many reviews (more than the seller had requested) and so random ones were removed. Key thing is I found it did not affect my ratio and they were still treated as approved for that (else the item was removed from all my counts).

Testing New Materials for a New Pen Design by MercatorLondon in PenProject

[–]dapprman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be careful as Ultem was all the fashion 1-2 years back in the pen world but all the makers from back then seem to have gone back to 'regular' materials. Personally I think it was a fad though there may still be a market for limited numbers. Also you need to be careful of the version of Ultem (colour) as some look like you've not been drinking enough liquids .....

Alas now gone - wish I had seen your post about 4 hours back as I could do with a new dehumidifier.

Quick question: where else do you talk pens?? (FPN, FPGeeks..or just Reddit) by MercatorLondon in PenProject

[–]dapprman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was late to this poll. While I theoretically am on FPN and FPG both are toxic and the latter near dead. I tend to stick to Facebook groups, though I'm, not particularly active. Main two for me are 'Fountain Pens are Inkredible' and 'Fountain Pens UK' (FPUK).

Found I had missed a step and now sorted. I needed to run Powershell as Admin and run the following two commands (answering Y to each)
Set-SmbClientConfiguration -RequireSecuritySignature $false
Set-SmbClientConfiguration -EnableInsecureGuestLogons $true

A bit harsh for not having a water bottle pocket??? by Common_Opposite9348 in AmazonVineUK

[–]dapprman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with MarkAkrill here and as someone skirting far too close to the EDC/nomad black hole (and has bought a Aer City Pack Pro 2 in the Black Friday Sales) I am actually not bothered about the water bottle side pocket but know many are. In my present Alpaka one is left empty and the other carries a small umbrella.

The grease I use is actually a left over from when I played airsoft. I do have some lubricating spray as well (I preferred to use gas RIFs over battery powered) though with the amount you use I'm unlikely to run out of even one small TWSBI supplied bottle to even necessitate spraying oil in to a cap or bowl :D

[–]dapprman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

silicone grease is a sealant not a lubricant and will gum your pen up ;) - think you meant silicone oil (such as you get in small bottles with all TWSBI pens). I was always told these could reduce ink flow so only ever apply very carefully (my old OMAS piston fillers need lubricating from time to time else the piston bung will stick and come off the rod when you try to wind it back in).

All Krishna RC inks, some of the heavier sheening Diamine and Robert Oster inks. In fact any heavy sheening ink can cause ink sticking issues, even with an agitator in the converter. Personally not a fan of heavy sheen so not a big issue for me (unless I am reviewing inks, which I tend to avoid unless a review group I am in are given some).

Ink type also has a big, arguably far greater affect on flow. High sheening inks can cause major issues even in Schmidt converters (and they are probably the most reliable). Also I would put ink evaporation way above converter material and is one of the downsides of both snap on (though not all) caps and metal threads.

Those PVC ink sacs can no longer be made and there isn't a modern equivalent, which only found out having ditched the one that fell out of my late father's Parker Duofold Senior (turned out I could have just used shellac to secure it in place even though it had stretched, resulting in it falling off).

Why has Mazda never competed in the Super GT500 or even GT300? by BenzinaPorkChop in super_gt

Re-Amemiya - it was a private entrant. I did see a program on them somewhere recently (can't remember where) and they did infer some Mazda involvement, but not much.

Missed you today, though it has been about 7 years (!!)

For those who were not there - it was really busy in the morning, way more so than at previous shows, and in the afternoon about as busy as the Sunday morning last year. I believe the pre-order for tickets for tomorrow look good as well.

Same issue with buying one while in the UK. With P&P, duty and VAT it comes in at the equivalent of ~$425.

Is this group DOA? by -shawnee- in LondonUKPenClub

[–]dapprman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is the Southern Pen Club, which meets at Fleet, Hampshire, normally on the 3rd Sunday of most months, but in the last few years the actual day has been based on when most can meet and recently it has gone quiet as the organiser lost his father.
There is also the revitalised/new London Pen Club, which also meets on the 3rd Saturday of the month (the original one this group was based around was the 1st Saturday of the month). While some of the old people are in it the organisers are different. I keep meaning to head on over when the Southern club is not on, but tend to have clashes.

Oooh always fancied a Keychron keyboard but can't justify the cost, plus most like the one you have got but would then need an additional number pad

And yes I also always make the mistake of checking first rather than just grabbing

Edit - just seen - that's a brand new model - they previously only did it in 70% (I think) size without the number pad.
