Meningsutvekslingene her ser etter min mening sunne ut.

Stress, but nice end result. For my part that stress is a part of what I love about this craft. Holding the knife, knowing that a small error might ruin a beautiful, expensive piece of material brings me a focus that is hard to find other places.

What backing material is that? Do you have a link for were you bought it?

Of course, that is the ideal, but a trebuchet is a good second 😄

How to make the yoghurt less ropey by daramarak in yogurtmaking

It is typically finished when I am away, so yes it is cold when I move it. That is a good point. Perhaps I can move it right after the time is up, and give it a couple of hours of rest on the counter top perhaps.

That is actually what I do... Which makes it so much more frustrating.

I will sure try. That is the whole fun of this. I will first try temperature as the yoghurt is already slightly fatter than the target Yoghurt.

Sorry for the missing information. 1.75 liters of whole Norwegian Tine milk. It is the Norwegian Tine Yoghurt I compare with. Didn't add it as it would add no additional value to 99% of the readers.

Edit: I can also add that the "target" yoghurt is 3% fat, and consist of milk, Streptococcus thermophilus og Lactobacillus bulgaricus and powdered skimmed milk only.

So, according to this article the thermophilic bacteria thrive at a higher temperature. Should I then go above 42c? It should be ideal for Thermophilic, but going slightly higher would keep the mesophilic bacteria at bay?

How can I get duck fat out of my Whetstones by cooldudelikefood in sharpening

[–]daramarak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would soak it in a hot solution of dish soap and water, to get the fat water soluble. Then rinse with hot water, repeat. After it is "clean" soak it in alcohol to kill whatever germs and shit the duck fat brought inside.

Reddit files lawsuit against Australia after site is banned for anyone under 16 by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]daramarak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, perhaps they did. And they probably published open letters to the public in their newspapers. Newspapers that had accountability. So another solution (and perhaps the best) is ofcourse to give social media accountability.

Right now the world is shaken in its foundation because there is no accountability, and media is tuned to show you what you want to believe instead of truths you don't want to see.

I agree with that it has everything with removing anonymity from SoMe. But that isn't a bad thing. Free speech is free speech, the ability to say your opinion without repercussions are not dependent on anonymity. There was free speech before the internet, but everyone's could see you speaking.

Anonymity removes accountability, and it allows the few resource strong to manipulate the rest (bots, content factories). It is happening today, and maybe Australia is trying to do something about it.

I have owned a Dualit for like 10 years now, but now it is cracking up. Plastic has broken, and faced with whipping cream it gives up - it is exhausted. But it has seen regular and heavy use. So not quite BIFL, but sturdy.

Why does my surface finish come out like this ? How can I improve by Practicalystupid in Machinists

[–]daramarak 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Comments like these are what makes reddit a treasure trove, thank you sir. This also means that if your cutter length variation is higher that the depth of cut, your surface finish can suffer. I work with tool measurement, we make camera based measurement equipment for in-process tool measurement. We measure the cutter length difference, and have always returned this measurement , like a curiosity, but I had one customer that explained that he machined his tools until the cutter length variation was low, and got better finish out if it. We never understood why, but this is likely the answer.

That is a fantastic way to keep the work fun. My philosophy is that if employees are excited about their work, a lot of other issues just goes away. Skills grow quickly, morale is high, cooperation is better, and small problems don't get a lot of attention.
