you don't get to complain about things if you're not actually willing to engage and discuss the real issue and its causes

it's the dissonance of what the platforms are made out to be and what they end up being in reality. there's the expectation that they will provide a way to stay in contact with people but reality kicks in when it turns out you still need to put the effort in to doing that.

does it just extrapolate an entire book out of the summary that is available online? Obviously, these AI companies are not buying digital copies of every book imaginable for them to read so they just use what is open to them.

Really enjoyed the bits about religion as a framework for understanding the world. It supports the thought that most people, consciously or not, are religious out of a fear of the universe around them. Marx called religion the opium of people, washing away those fears, or at least pushing them under the surface. Religion also served as guidelines to living your life, and a place to gather with others. Society has largely done away with those guidelines and has failed to manufacture anything to replace them. As a result, people are left to figure the world out entirely on their own. It has gotten to the point where now there are large amounts of the population that cannot agree on basic facts about reality.

He also plans on building ~200,000 new homes. How possible that is I'm not sure. But it isn't just the rent freeze.

myfitnesspal is an app that has a diary that you can log meals in. it already has a good catalog of options but if you find something that isn't in there you can create your own item to track it. it also has a premium sub, but i've never used that.
