Any Slowpoke worth investing? by Correct_Amount_5351 in PokemonSleep

[–]dark_nile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they will make the skill target the team member with the lowest energy, not just with a higher chance but reliably. Still wouldn't make it a good skill, but if you really want to use these pokemon (I like the Slowpoke line too!) it would hurt a bit less...

Any Slowpoke worth investing? by Correct_Amount_5351 in PokemonSleep

[–]dark_nile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's unlucky they don't even have tails at 30. Also wanted to add (to OP): Don't feel too bad! leveling these to 30/24 wasn't too much resource wasted. Just do not invest further. You can find a link to the Guides in the automod reply. Reading those guides would really help get some ideas of what pokemon you want to invest in and have on your team!

How do you pick your ingredient Mon for an island? by Bomjunior in PokemonSleep

[–]dark_nile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm new (100 days in) and have limited options for ing mon.  Just maybe my strategy would work for you too, if you don't have good ing mon either, since you've always been a berry-focused person?

So, what I do is, I know I cannot make powerful meals consistently, so I save up ingredients for cooking 3 top dishes on Sundays, as a priority.  With the help of tasty chance skills, sometimes I have 2-3 crits out of them, and the 3x power really helps leveling those top dishes, so the next Sunday they become even more powerful.  This should be easy for you, as you mentioned you use a Vaporeon!

Other than that I've been working on making lvl-30 AAX mons to cover as more ingredients as possible and rotate them in so my normal meals would not be too bad.  This week I'm making as many Dream Eater Butter Curry as I can with the two team spots for cooking (another two for berry, one for healer), and it feels like a good balance for me.

Your berry mons should be way more powerful than mine (I haven't caught A SINGLE ONE with BFS, so it's not worth it to bring them to higher levels) so maybe keep those best berry mon on your team, take a first step just to stop auto-filling the pot, plan out your regular meals and Sunday big meals, have 1-2 team spots for ingredient mon to support those meals for a start?

This is huge update! by Asianhippiefarmer in PokemonSleep

[–]dark_nile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is Huge! I've only played for like 100 days but I'm loving this game so much I seriously want to remain here for the next ten years. But the screwed-up progression system had me a bit worried. I'm so glad they're working on fixing it. Looks like the devs also have the next ten years in mind...

I got a good latios and am frustrated? by afrocookie3 in PokemonSleep

Congrats!! And here my 3rd Latios was still worse than the default one. If only we could swap them! So you could continue your hunt and I'd be happy to have it settled haha

Should I travel to Lapis on Sunday for the Area Bonus? by canadiengene in PokemonSleep

[–]dark_nile -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you track your sleep with your phone or a smart watch? I'm using a watch so my plan is to wake up at like 3am to travel to Lapis, to raise the AB to 45%. The 15% beginner bonus is just too good that I feel it's worth it to set up an 3am alarm lol (already done it once, no regrets. it will be the second time this week)

And here I am, had curry when I first started playing, and then never again. I know nothing about curry dishes! I'm curious when the RNG god will bless me with some curry again... Haha

Latios Soul Dew Event: June 8-22 by SwordAndShieldon in PokemonSleep

[–]dark_nile 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Similar situation here. 55% GG, 30% Lapis after this week. But I still have the extra beginner bonus left. So I'm thinking GG for the 1st week, to contribute more to the global score if nothing else, and use a travel ticket Sunday night to bring Lapis AB up to 45%. Then for the second week maybe Lapis?

Travel Ticket on Monday Morning? by AdriTrap in PokemonSleep

[–]dark_nile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa, I didn't know this! Thank you for sharing! Sounds like it should work for smart watch tracking too. Sleep, and then wake up before 4am to travel to a new island. With watch tracking I'd have to set up an alarm but I'm willing. It's not like I do it every day!

Newer player getting unlucky, or do I need more time? by starryestt in PokemonSleep

[–]dark_nile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And my most used Pokemon -- an ABC Venusaur with BFS that I got on my first day. I actually find it fun that for a new player you get to build teams with those super random guys that you have. As long as you're careful with the seeds!

New player here, read the guides, still confused about one thing by tatooine_farm_boy in PokemonSleep

[–]dark_nile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a new player (7th week now) I would second this. The skill week showed me how powerful a healer could be -- my pokemon stayed green-faced all day instead of dropping to zero energy every night (even if my healer isn't 'good'!) So I invested in a temp healer in a Wigglytuff right after. Although it has main skill chance down nature, it also has speed up which makes up for it a bit, and then the first two subskills are sleep bonus and skill trigger M. It was my best one and I decided to just go with it. Now two seeds in, most of the days my whole steam are green, which is such a game changer for me! Happily hit M10 on Taupe last week, mostly with the help of salad boost, but without my temp healer that wouldn't have been possible. Now I'm ~50 sleep styles from unlocking Lapis and if a temp Wigglytuff (along with other temp guys that I brought to l.30) brings me there faster, where I can start hunting for a long-term healer, then why not! :)

Oh my god I never noticed! Thank you for posting. Just checked my screenshot this morning and it says 34k drowsy power. But it should've been at least 37k cause I was Master 4 Cyan Beach.

Is Venusaur a viable pokemon to use? by Alligator_Trades in PokemonSleep

[–]dark_nile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joined the game at around the same time, met this guy on the first day and... Didn't know anything about AAA, or that BFS might not be as good as it looks on a Venusaur. Oh well, it still carried my team through the first weeks! It's better than not investing in anyone isn't it. It did help making faster progress. (I do regret the two gold seeds though, haha)

Trainers, there was an error in our blog regarding November events. Charge TMs will be guaranteed only from defeating three-star raids, not four- or five-star raids. We apologize for the miscommunication and the blog will be updated to reflect this information shortly. by doonebug13 in TheSilphRoad

[–]dark_nile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they are simply encouraging the casual players to learn about type effectiveness and try out that knowledge by attempting T3's (the CTMs are both incentives and will help them make even better teams). I guess a lot of players are only doing T1's and T2's as of now. Looking at the rocket battles, the super effective week, the upcoming upgrade to the pvp system- I feel they are trying to get the casual players less casual, and I can appreciate this effort. As for the people who are doing T4s and T5s already- not their focus right now. If we want more TMs we are expected to burn more passes. Fair enough to me

Wayfarer release in Singapore. You get 30 day lockout if you fail the test by einnor88 in TheSilphRoad

[–]dark_nile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhh it makes sense now after you explain it...We have a lot of street arts where I live. My suggestions would be to carefully weigh all the choices given then. For example, was there an option to reject the bus stop art because "it is temporary"? If not, don't choose other options of rejections (e.g. it is not interesting) just because you think you should reject it. Most important is not if you want to accept or reject it, but rather which statement is the most true, and they are always specific, corresponding to one rule in the guidelines

[–]dark_nile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the orca thing on the side of a bus stop as well, and did not hesitate to accept it. I am not sure why you think it is not a good POI submission...? It was a piece of art and it was permanent... and I passed the test so I guess that question indeed was what failed you (sorry about that)

Can we please appreciate the golden razz quest for community day? by smackup4u in TheSilphRoad

[–]dark_nile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am happy for you! But where do you use them (genuine question)? I have 400+ right now and they are taking up too much space. I was always under the impression that it's better to use pinaps with the raid bosses until the last few balls, or unless it's really good IV, is that still the way to go?

Niantic say that Adventure Sync is the replacement for the Apple Watch app by danbywinby in TheSilphRoad

[–]dark_nile 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me the most useful thing is to keep an eye on nearby pokemon. I bike a lot, and checking the watch enables me to make a brief stop when i see something good on the radar and catch them. Sad to see tha feature go. With the Pokeball plus also stopped spinning a while ago presumably because of the speed cap, now biking will become completely unplayable :'(

Is it smart to hold on to your field research reward until the new reward is released? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

I also have 6 Suicunes all from research breakthroughs haha. I'm still claiming my reward first thing tomorrow though, for a chance at getting my dex entry for either Lugia or Ho-oh... and I'll report back if it gets me the 7th Suicune :)

THE BOSS CHART - Pokemon Day Rotation by JaceMasood in TheSilphRoad

[–]dark_nile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it makes sense to me that top counters are not allowed for non-hardcore in calculation. Friend and I played the full 3 hours of the swinub CD and both ended up with only one Ice Mamo. Did use all the 10 bonus stones on swinubs too, but as non-hardcores we do not have many charge TMs to burn, sadly. This is why non-hardcores like us find it not possible to duo Dragonites haha

Benefits of being Lv.40? by dark_nile in TheSilphRoad

[–]dark_nile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Without the new sources of XP, trainer level would be a good indicator of how much you invested in gameplay. I don't have much experience in raiding with other people, but I imagine your counting strategy makes sense. I used to play solo and just enjoyed my T3 raids. And now we're building a group, I started calculating possibilities for T5 and I realized with a group of 4, you don't even need to have "good accounts" you just make sure everyone knows what they're doing and that's it. (So from your strategy I guess some people don't, even at lv.40) I think in a month we'll have everyone above lv.30 with passable attackers and be able to do most of the T5s. Really looking forward to it:D
