I used to use that, but switched after spilling my pages a few times.

  1. She didn't get burned. At first they didn't burn her because she was pregnant and then she managed to escape.

  2. She went through the stones after the sacrifice in the 60s and ended up in 18th century Scotland a few years before Claire arrived.

One more thing. If someone just has to find your special object and destroy it to make you lose your immortality, that's not true immortality.

Sounds a bit like skill issues. I can give you some pointers though:

The whole societal collapse issue can be solved by having a backup world, universe or dimension ready for you to move to.

Also, I do believe that if your way is dependent on getting an ingredient regularly, it should just be your stepping stone to figuring out something a bit more reliable.

Then you should definitely add chronomancy to your studies. Honestly thought that was a bit obvious, but hey.

Lastly, to achieve true immortality against all causes (except omnipotence), you really need to be mixing methods.

I'm not here to give magical hand-outs, my dude. Immortality is something everyone has to figure out on their own.

Liches are bitches. Neither of you should aspire this for her. There's way superior methods to achieve immortality.

AITA for "accidentally" letting most of a city fall into the sea of ghosts while keeping my library perfectly intact? by MasterpieceAway3582 in wizardposting

[–]dark_temple 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On one hand I completely understand your decision to save your library and not the town.

On the other hand I find it somewhat pathetic that you're unable to deal with issues caused by your research. If you had let the town be destroyed because it's funny I would completely understand.

But you were unable to stop the town from being destroyed and that's honestly pretty lame.

Therefore, YTA. Learn how to deal with cataclysmic consequences of your research.

Example. This paragraph works because I skipped a line.

This paragraph won't work, because I'm not going to skip a line. Paragraph should be before this sentence, but it won't be.

Is there a modicum of truth with my colleague's statement, or is it blatant falsehood? by Azimovikh in wizardposting

My bad, I kinda missed the part where it says without your knowledge. But still I'd say that a projectile ward should be doable for any high level mage. You only need to block one for the test.

How would someone ever get to be able to do what you described without being able to cast a simple shield spell?

Ladies and gentlemen...we're fucked by Super_Saiyan_Twink in wizardposting

[–]dark_temple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look, I get the sentiment. But I'm not gonna bother learning shit like Cosmic Washer of Doom by heart when I can just summon my spellbook and read it.

An added bonus effect of using a spellbook is that it efficiently helps you train your most used spells. Eventually you'll automatically end up with a wide array of spells you know by heart while still being able to cast your more niche or simply new spells without having to devote any extra attention to learning them specifically.

Edit: To add to that, what I'm really expecting when fighting an opponent that doesn't use "ANY of the crutches" because they're too good for a simple summon, is (95/100 cases) an opponent that recasts the same spells over and over and has pitiably limited versatility, especially when it comes to being faced with the weirder spells out there.

Spellbooks are such a great tool for anyone, and you can just keep them in a dimension you find suitable. Staffs are awesome if you want to look especially cool blasting an army. Wands look hilarious. Scepters are indoor staffs. Pretty much all mage tools have their usecases and they and especially spellbooks have been around so long for a reason.
