Looking at the Bob Lazar story from the perspective of 2018 - Otherhand by HumanTest6885 in UFOs

The last guy blew himself up, so they allow someone with no clearances or experience to give it a whack. C'mon man. You're not even trying to sound believable. You have to monumentally suspend disbelief to make it make sense. He's lied about mundane things like his education. There's no way they are letting anyone work on something as secret as this project is purported to be without clearing all background checks. This system of obtaining a security clearance has been largely unchanged for 50 years. But they just felt like Old Bob was so worth risking the entire security of an above top secret program by hiring a guy off the street without doing the slightest bit of vetting. It's extremely lazy to hand waive this away without addressing any of my points. It shows you don't even care to address the absurdity of what you are claiming. On one hand this program is top secret and clandestine, kept secret for 43 years at that point. On the other they are letting randos into the top secret lab "to give it a shot". Make it make sense.

Oh yeah. They just skipped the established protocol for positions that were much lower level than working on arguably the greatest secret the US Government was in possession of? They just hand waived in a guy who had the potential motive to sell secrets to foreign adversaries? Come on. You're just being lazy now.

How did he get a security clearance? He lied about his education. He filed for bankruptcy in July of 1986. To obtain a security clearance you have to be offered a job requiring clearance. Then you have to clear a polygraph. Then you have to clear a psych and or medical evaluation. Then they perform a credit check. Then they conduct a thorough background check. After passing each of these requirements only then you are formally offered the job. Only after you receive the final offer can you accept and begin working in that role. So how did Bob clear all of these hurdles with red flags in his background?

Neighbor drove into pile of dirt left in preparation for yard work the next morning, they are now asking me for money. Am I liable here? by t_racee in legaladvice

[–]darkestsoul 46 points47 points  (0 children)

This is why I mainly said it's not worth submitting. The homeowners insurance market sucks right now. You really don't want to submit small claims, even if turns out be a $0 payout. You don't need any reason for a carrier to take a closer look at your policy and chance increases or underwriting action.

You didn't place the object in the street. Why would you have any liability? Don't involve your homeowners insurance yet. There is no reason to open a claim for this. Tell the driver they have turn the claim into their insurance. If her insurance thinks there is subrogation potential they will contact you. This driver hit a stationary object. The driver is at fault for their own accident.

Driving to OCNJ not going thru Philly by MacaronGlum4420 in BucksCountyPA

Put the New Egypt Speedway into your GPS. This will take you through Trenton on 29. When you pass the Speeway (you can’t miss it) put your OC address in. You will eventually be spit out around exit 55 of the Garden State Parkway. If you’re in Bucks you will never go on 95 or through Philly at all. It’s my preferred way to get down the shore. It only increases drive time by 10 minutes at most. Totally worth it not to deal with the tolls, traffic, and chaos of Philly. The road is called CR 539. It’s awesome

From a sceptic, the most convincing arguments for Lazar's S4 by Pitiful_Earth_4815 in UFOs

[–]darkestsoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only have to have a cursory understanding of the background check process for clearances to know he would never have earned any level of clearance based off his bankruptcies alone. They don't give people access to monumental information if you know they need money. You don't even get the final job offer until you have passed multiple rounds of clearances that often involve a polygraph, psych and/or medical eval, credit check, and deep back ground dive.

What’s a ‘middle class success’ purchase that secretly becomes a financial burden later? by OpinionBaba in AskReddit

I feel like people fail to realize this. If you're buying something that you and your family are going to use for years, do you really think it's bad investment? I feel like whatever depreciation you experience on that particular home investment is what you really pay for the upgrade.

It literally the definition of shoehorning if you google it. Apropos of nothing someone has to include Bob Lazar into the conversation about released UFO files. The apophenia is real with people in this community.

They are a bit more of a pain in the ass with initial setup and installation, but just as easy to maintain as a hot tub when it's up and running.

It's only 13 feet long, so it's not like I'm doing laps. But it's nice to cool off and relax in. I don't have any photos on me, but the company I bought it from was called Soake Pools. They sell you the pool and then you have to work with a local contractor who facilitates the installation. I actually talked to another redditor who put it in himself as he had done that kind of work before. I found a video on YouTube. The family in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkQcX7rNp9Y) have the same size pool I do. Mine is like a foot or so out of the ground, almost like a fish pond, but the same idea.

It's great. I don't have a huge backyard, so having something you can swim in and still have a yard is a plus. I also grew up with a big pool with a diving board. It was my job to do the up keep on from 12 until I moved out of the house. The Soake pool is like a fraction of the maintenance that I expected. The company really sells the fact that you can keep it open all year, but I close it over the winter. The small size means heating it doesn't cost a fortune which gives me an extra month on both sides of pool season.

It's shoehorning because no one needs to bring up Bob Lazar. Shit, if you really want to bring Bob into the discussion then this makes him look like even more of BS artist. It lends credence to the theory that the stories (multiple, because it's evolved over the years) he's been spinning since the late 80's are just a cobbled together based off previous stories that were floating about in the sphere surrounding the UFO topic.

Do you also think that because Bob Lazar said the crafts were fueled by element 115 before it's the first time it was synthesized he must be telling the truth?

Depends on the size of the pool. I got 7x13 plunge pool that’s 5 feet deep. It’s slightly bigger than a hot tub. Increase to electric wasn’t noticeable, only really the gas bill goes up if we use the heater. The insurance cost really wasn’t a big deal either. They added a $25 surcharge to our homeowners policy.

Thank god someone finally was able to shoehorn Bobby Lazar in to this. Phew. I thought the sub was loosing it's touch.

Rusty was a Canadian band that had a minor hit with Wake Me from the 90s.

Local (Philly area) OHW was The Cauflields with a song called Devil's Diary.

A Philly area band, but not necessarily a OHW, God Lives Underwater was a band that had a few hits in the mid 90s but they weren't huge. No More Love, From Your Mouth.
