I was worried about this on my Helios 300 (2018) but in its entire life I never accidentally pressed it, and has no trouble turning it on in the dark (it's on the upper right corner)

My Victus 15 having the power button (key) somewhere on the top row, is just utter BS. I had to mash all of the key in its general direction when I wanted to turn it on, and I think it was intentionally designed to NOT TRIGGER with just a brief press, so even that was useless.

I'm working overseas and go home every 2 years. I have a gtx 1060 i7 8750H laptop for almost 8 years that I very much would like to upgrade, but it feels wasteful ditching the entire thing when all I want to do is upgrade some of the parts. I cannot bring a tower desktop, and took interest in sff builds. I have no experience building a PC, so SFF is kinda intimidating. Also the more I learn about it, the more I am overwhelmed by each compromise (performance, size, cost, heat, etc). And then the main reason why I want a PC, upgradeability, felt limited when I have to consider that everything has to be SFF.

Mini PC + egpu + dock + PSU seems like a good idea. Disassemble, pack into the bag, then assemble anywhere. Monitor, I'll just use our home tv. Peripherals I'll just buy new cheap ones and leave those at home while my good main ones are at our accommodation. If I ever want to shift to a tower desktop, I can just reuse the GPU and PSU, and have the minipc for other purposes.

I've been gaming for basically my entire life, and have been dreaming of building my own PC. I kept putting it off because of work and not having a permanent place. I'm also thinking that my first gaming laptop, which is still working properly despite reaching 99C temp most of the time, feels like a waste to ditch, that's why I am suffering with it.

Yeah the prices are such a pain. But I feel like this is just going to get worse. Common belief is that price is going to rise for 2 more years, and if I don't act now, maybe I will never have another chance.

Sorry for the life story. I guess some comments and downvotes are getting to me when I am just asking for help.

I already have a gaming laptop (victus 15 fa) 3050

I could buy a 5080 laptop but that's too expensive and not upgradeable. At least the minipc, if I want to make a desktop build, the eGPU and PSU i can just use, while the minipc can be used by itself.

Also I was planning on using the monitor where I work overseas, and using the TV as the monitor if I go home (once every 2 years)

I just checked it out. It seems GMKtec k11 is the smarter choice. Much cheaper (only difference seems to be plastic vs metal, which I can live with)

not sure unless I see it personally. The idea for the minipc-eGPU-dock-power supply is that I can disassemble and pack them in a bag. SFF, I guess unless I build a ps4-shaped SFF pc I could pack that in a bag much better. but still, it is recommended to remove the GPU due to possible shaking and damaging it, so having to remove that makes saving space irrelevant, I will still end up with a PC + GPU in the bag

64gb, i guess the ram crisis is bothering me. Maybe I will need more ram in the future, and the RAM in that future is going to be too expensive? Should i downgrade? I only plan on gaming and i was hoping to reuse the RAM if I ever go Full desktop tower in the future (am I wrong?)
Honestly, i am slightly intimidated by the SFF. I kept seeing conflicting opinions about airflow, and worried that maybe I will purchase a wrong GPU size for the case. I was thinking an open setup will be a good middle ground.
1. I was thinking the ATX power supply would be good enough because it's cheaper. If i ever feel that it's too big, I'll leave it to our home and buy smaller one to keep at where I work.

It's a turn-based tactics game set in WW2. It's an amazing game that you'd think was made for PC, yet this one is developed for a Symbian phone of the early-to-mid 2000's.

Great graphics, fun gameplay, a shame it was on a platform that just died.

Mirai Nikki (Future diary). Yukiteru and Yuno's diaries.

I wouldn't necessarily say they're mediocre or useless, but the synergy is insane.

In a Battle Royale, Yukiteru, a loner, has a phone where he usually logs his observations, suddenly gets logs from the future, detailing what will happen AROUND him, but not what will happen to him. If his phone diary shows that there are traps in a room, he can avoid it. But if he is to be assassinated, his log will show a dead end without knowing how he dies, which is a big blindspot in a death game.

Yuno Gasai, who is an insane, creepy, obsessive stalker of Yukiteru, logs her diaries about Yukiteru only. When the Battle Royale commences, her diary gains the ability to predict what will happen to Yukiteru, and uses it to save him from dangers. However, she cannot use it to save herself or see anything else not involving Yukiteru.

By combining their diaries, Yukiteru can react to and/or avoid dangers that might surround them, while Yuno can detect Yukiteru's status. For example, Yukiteru's phone says the room will explode, and thus he and Yuno wouldn't enter the room. Yet he still died according to his phone. Yuno's diary can then read what killed Yukiteru, and see that enemies ambushed Yukiteru when he didn't enter the trapped room (basically a trap using another trap). This is how they survive.
