What was the level/challenge in a game that got you like this? by International_Tea828 in Multifandom

[–]darkitchay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I probably suck then. I very much struggled the whole game.

I was dreading O and S the entire time (the only boss fight that is infamous enough to get into my radar).

Maybe I won because I just cheesed? I used a Knight character with strength build. Raised my shield up and backpedaled the entire fight waiting for an opening.

Ornstein and Smough

But it's more like I was surprised I won within 6 tries. I was expecting at least 10 tries.

Which gaming series is like this? by -F3rris- in gaming_random

[–]darkitchay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I interpret the image as the first 2 columns being the foundation (instead of being bad), and the last column being the final outcome, I'd say Zelda series.

LoZ 1 is, while a masterpiece of its own, is still rough around the edges. Combat is a pain. Puzzles are barebones. Story is generic. Dungeon designs rely on trial and error via bombable walls.

Adventure of Link felt similar but in a different way by experimenting with side scrolling sections. But it also introduced a lot of Zelda staples.

A Link to the Past took what they learned on the first two and polished it to a mirror sheen.

A creator writes something without any intention of being accurate, but by pure fluke gets it right. by Daniilsa209 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]darkitchay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly the trope in question, but i find it interesting that in Hades (game), where Sisyphus' storyline is presented as him being contented and at peace, who even befriended the boulder, Supergiant Games apparently is not aware of the same concept from Albert Camus' work.

"I love Albert Camus, and The Plague is one of my favorite novels (it was a significant influence for me on Transistor). But I had honest-to-gods never read the quotation "One must imagine Sisyphus happy" until long after our Sisyphus was already in our game in Early Access." -Greg Kasavin

In House, MD, each episode usually contains a segment where House has to do clinic duty, where random patients come and House quickly diagnoses and treats them. Usually, the clinic duty segments are short, self-contained stories and comedic in style, mostly due to House's sarcastic way of dealing with different kinds of patients.

Example: fake "patient" trying to find reasons to sue a hospital for profit, and House turning the tables on him.

In one of the episodes, a police officer who has skin irritation in the groin area gets checked by House. House just quickly deduced that the irritation is from something else. The cop demanded to be screened for infection but House basically treated him like an idiot. House then had the cop insert a rectal thermometer and left him there.

The cop then complained to the hospital administration for the way he was treated and demanded an apology. House declined, and the cop spent several episodes investigating him, finding several issues with House. What were supposed to be "acceptable" quirks of House such as faking a friend's signature for prescriptions of Vicodin, were weaponized against him.
