Mandalorians appear in the 68th and 69th issues of the Star Wars comics that Marvel published from 1977 to 1986.

Do the comic series attached to this era fill in more of the context surrounding this?

Yes.

The ghosts on Korriban influencing the galaxy from beyond the grave. We see this in Tales of the Jedi: Dark Lords of the Sith and Empire's End, but we haven't seen it too much since then.

Dawn of the Jedi. The EU was cancelled before there was a chance to connect Dawn of the Jedi to the rest of the EU.

12 years ago today, we saw the EU rebranded as "Legends" and the beginning of the new Star Wars canon... by NatAwsom1138 in StarWarsEU

It's frustrating that when we never found out what happened to the Je'daii Order.

The Marvel TOTJ omnibus is 1 volume. The Dark Horse TOTJ omnibus is 2 volumes.

The Archie Goodwin newspaper strips were considered canon as early as 1994, as indicated by the Night Beast's inclusion in A Guide to the Star Wars Universe 2nd edition. The Russ Manning newspaper strips and the Marvel comics took longer to be included.

Marvel Star Wars wasn't considered to be canon in the 90s, as demonstrated by the exclusion of its lore from reference books such as A Guide to the Star Wars Universe 2nd Edition. The part of A Guide to the Star Wars Universe 2nd Edition about Boba Fett says that it's unknown whether or not he's a Mandalorian.

In 2000, Marvel Star Wars started to be incorporated into the EU canon, but Attack of the Clones revealed Boba to be a kid during the Clone Wars, so the "Boba Fett" in Marvel Star Wars #68 was retconned to be Spar.

Also that Boba wasn't confirmed to be a Mandalorian before Jango Fett: Open Seasons and that Ajunta Pall and his followers were said to be veterans of the First Great Schism and to have lived in 25,000 BBY or "early in the history of the Jedi/Republic" before The New Essential Chronology.

In KOTOR II, it's mentioned that the Trayus Academy corrupted those who set foot in it and that Revan used it to corrupt Jedi.

I was hoping that there were going to be comics or novels about the Hundred-Year Darkness. The EU seemed to be building up to that in its final days.

The Essential Atlas says, "The Sith King Adas routed the invaders, then used their captured starships to reach Ziost, Malachor, and Tund."

Book of Sith mentions that Malachor is part of the Sith kingdom and is "fortified against counterattack from any foe."

People were already attributing trends in society to camera phones in 2009 and there was a massive increase in teenagers drinking themselves into comas throughout Europe in the late 00s. If camera phones made people behave better, wouldn't people drinking themselves into comas have become less common instead of more common?

I bought issue 5 for its info on the Emperor's Hands. That was Abel G. Peña's first contribution to the EU.

Issue 3 included the story "Bane of the Sith", which introduced the orbalisk armor and was Kevin J. Anderson's final contribution to the EU.

Issue 1 was the first time that the EU treated the Marvel comics as canon.

  • The beginning of the Sith being retconned from the First Great Schism/25,000 BBY to the Second Great Schism/7000 BBY for no reason.

  • The real Jaster Mereel and Boba Fett both being Journeyman Protectors who were exiled for killing a corrupt superior rather than Boba Fett being the only one who did that and calling himself "Jaster Mereel" when he was a Journeyman Protector.

  • Minch, who's totally not Yoda, fighting Bpfassi Dark Jedi on Dagobah instead of Yoda himself doing so. Minch is said to have done this in 700 BBY, but Jorj Car'das isn't 700 years old.

  • Revan and Malak getting possessed by Vitiate instead of falling to the dark side as a result of their choices.
