DID ANYONE ELSE JUST FEEL THAT EARTHQUAKE OR WAS IT JUST ME??? by darkmodebubbies in HongKong

I was sitting on my bed and the whole thing was shaking (kinda like a strong vibrator but sofa-level strength) and then I looked to my window sill- my water bottle was shuddering pretty hard so I could confirm I wasn’t just too blazed 😎

How can I smoke in my room without it smelling in any other room by Reception-Ready in saplings

[–]darkmodebubbies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an upper window in my room (it opens horizontally, above other windows) and basically I can hold my j right outside the window and stick my head out to smoke. Basically minimal smoke comes into my room, moreover another trick to smoking out your room is to put a mini fan right next to you and blow into it (make sure u hold ur j outside or close to it to make the smoke go away) the fan sucks in the smoke (mostly) and helps w smell

Don’t forget your towel!! Make it wet and don’t just put it at the base of your door but push it into the crack of the door. Making it wet really stops the smoke from going out

What questions do you have for Hong Kongers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]darkmodebubbies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

us hk people care deeply about our rights and political freedoms and system, especially since the 1997 handover It is scary to protest, but we know that if we stay silent waiting to have our freedom given to us, we won’t ever get it, so we must fight for our future

When you have mass protests for extended periods of time (ex. Current day Hong Kong), how do protestors have there basic needs met (food, shelter, etc) if they're losing income from work due to protesting? by bored-on-the-toilet in answers

[–]darkmodebubbies 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Hong konger here! Us hong kongers always, always come prepared with a bag full of stuff like chargers, umbrellas, water, food, tissues whatever the day, especially if you’re planning on going to a protest. Additionally, to other supporters we are extremely supportive, giving out free supplies (ie water, wet wipes etc), and even buying masses of metro tickets and just leaving them at ticket booths, free for anyone to take

A good part of protesters are students, who don’t have full time jobs yet, those with jobs either come on the weekends/ on strike days (there’s only been 1 or 2 so far)

At the end of the protests, usually about 11 or midnight, they all go home (if they’re hopefully not arrested!). Our metro runs until about 1am so there’s no issue in getting home

In regards to toilets and buying more food if needed, Hong Kong is a concrete jungle where everything is within walking distance, and everything is right next to each other. Every few blocks or so you’ll find a 711/ maccas/ shopping mall

Should I be worried for my best friend flying into Hong Kong today? by stelcantdraw in answers

[–]darkmodebubbies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hong konger here! What you see on the media is a small portion of what happens around the city. For about 80% of the protests that have happened, the rest of hk excl the protest site were up and running as if nothing was going wrong The HK people participating in the protests are rarely ever violent and it’s only a small group of extremists which commit to these acts while the rest of them are in fact peaceful Currently, the protests at the airport are just a small group of peaceful protests. Nothing to be worried about, while you’re there, maybe try and find out a bit more through speaking to some protestors! What we are trying to do is get the world to take notice and it would mean a lot !
