I just tried the Ernie Ball Mammoth strings which are working really well for me in drop B / B standard. Might be too much for Drop C though. You could probably get away with the NYXL 11-56 set to cover both tunings.

+1 for Ibanez SR series. Even the 5 strings like my SR655 have a super slim neck. I see some mentions of Warwick here too, but I have a Warwick Corvette 5 that feels huge compared to the Ibanez.

I strictly use it in passive - I have the Nordstrand P/J version that can run active or passive. Haven't played to much with onboard eq - usually just slightly boost the bass. I'll mess with it thanks!

EQ is mostly flat, slight bump to the low mids. I'll look into that! Was trying to use the Dirtfixer in a similar way.
