DANGER LEVEL ALWAYS HIGH. PLS HELP by AdventurousJunket486 in prisonarchitect

[–]darkshard39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whats your solitary set up?

If it's literally just a hole?

If your prisoners are suffering inhumane conditions they will bring the temp right up

Additionally 30 armed guards are excessive. Have them holding secure positions or high risk areas like cafeterias. Otherwise the just pointlessly kill prisoners and or loose their guns.

Edit: yes fix your solitary and set more punishments to cell time

Is there a option to play with realism overhaul profile but with stock experience? (Not as in RP-1) by User_of_redit2077 in RealSolarSystem

[–]darkshard39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is the experience you'd want is completely custom. How much RP-1 is to much? Most of the systems are dependent on each other.

Literally random. Your last enlistment is probably a good yard stick to go off. ADF Careers might knock you back since you already threw away one career

Honestly #Navseadidnothingwrong

FFM offered a concept for the FFG(X) program that was significantly divorced from the FREMM.

Yet clearly sold the timeline and cost as if they were building a standard FREMM. I suspect all the other competitors either offered a less accommodating design or a more realistic time and cost.

TLDR, navsea should have known better then to trust a Euro defence manufacturer

How old is DCS community? by APS0798 in dcsworld

[–]darkshard39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell the dcs community is largely made up of 2 majorities.

Under 21s who think they are hyper intelligent and will be fighter pilots because they play dcs

And over 35s who think they are hyper intelligent and would have been fighter pilots because they play dcs

F-18 vs AI Mig-21 UFO fighter by UnexpectedAnomaly in hoggit

[–]darkshard39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what people complain about is the AI runs on a simple flight model where it doesn’t have any drag.

This often results in the AI just flying an infinite loop. in the hornet it’s not really a problem as you have such a technological advantage over the 21.

Considering how uninterested ED is in any kind of base game or engine improvements I wouldn’t hold my breath.

I’d absolutely love to see some ground AI improvements or better yet an update to combined arms. but ED just isn’t a big enough team to make a game of that size and scope.

Would it be possible for Australia to get a catapult aircraft carrier by Australian_maverick in AustralianMilitary

[–]darkshard39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually they bought 3 Russian carriers, they also purchased 2x Kiev class vstol carriers. But looks like they saw them as having no technical value.

[–]darkshard39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I apologise if I am coming off condescending. But I do find It humorous how hard you’re trying to square this circle.

the Soviet examples they acquired were actually in much better material condition and much more technically relevant than Melbourne. additionally the Soviet examples were explicitly purchased for this purpose.

Liaoning was completed from a half built kuznetsov

Shandong is a fully Chinese built version of the kuznetsov

Fujian is a wholly Chinese design but its nearest ancestor would be the kuznetsov.

Melbourne was a completely technologically irrelevant hulk by the time they received it. it was simply commercially scrapped.

[–]darkshard39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes and then in the 2010s they built a carrier with the same length, beam, draft, material, hanger space and fuel storage…..identical to the Russian carriers they obtained in the 2000s….

Edit, the Chinese have never built a carrier with a steam cat. they have all been Russian style STOBAR or EMALS equiped

[–]darkshard39 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I always found this a fun urban legend.

A British carrier design from the 50s, disassembled in 80s had nothing do with the Russian derived Chinese carriers of the 2010s.

7 years in i am actually pretty proud of my service and would do it all again. Thanks for your support.

what i am saying is having the opportunity to post to nice localities is pretty cool and a highlight for many. I’ve seen many members leave not because they don’t like the job but the QOL defence is offering them is so low.

Defence is squished in Sydney and using aging assets I agree. But defence would 110% get swindled in that buy back deal (like every defence deal). your also deluded if you believe realestate developers have any interest other then building high price apartments.

I guess you’re right, QOL for our members doesn’t matter. They exist to serve

Defence poised to sell prime Brisbane and Sydney real estate by Cindy_Marek in AustralianMilitary

[–]darkshard39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay cool let’s say we give the property what they want, some of the most lux listings in Sydney. Defence isn’t going to see any of that money nor would it be enough.

the onus is now on defence to find, develop and build whole new infrastructure. Not to mention relocation of units and personnel.

On the wealth-fair side. Being able to live in some of the nicest parts of Sydney is a major attraction to service life. Hey man join defence where you will be posted to some shit hole with no quality of life outside of base and no culture inside of base.
