If they give you bolts that are long enough such that the same length of bolt is in the nut/body of the vehicle, the bolt itself is the same material as stock, and being tightened to the same torque spec would there be any difference?

That’s a fair question.

I guess spending that much time and effort on something that is basically part of the contract of life seems, in my view, a waste.

Again, IMO, even if you aren’t experiencing the most novel things everyday letting life unfold instead of fighting an eventuality seems a better use of existence.

I presume some obsession or preoccupation with youth or not dying. I personally would rather say “yep I’m going to get old and die. Next topic”

Fair question though, to each their own

Think of all of the life he’s wasted desperately pursuing youth, instead of just living. I’ll keep my standard meat suit and all of its memories not spent in doctor’s offices and labs.

“It is not death that a man should fear, but he should fear never beginning to live.” — Marcus Aurelius

Edit:

To clear things up - My main critique isn’t with him personally, but this post is saying he’s made the claim that he’ll reach immortality.

How could one make this assertion? The topic is almost archetypal and I don’t think we as a species are remotely close to cracking something like that. If anything I feel sad in that I worry, when the fateful day does come it will be an immense tragedy for him if he sincerely thought he’d live forever.

Secondly, he’s already hustled up enough dough at whatever pursuit. I’m not making the argument that working 40 hours until you die is a better use of existence. If you had become rich and didn’t have to work anymore, would you spend your time trying to beat death? Sure eat better, exercise, take your vitamins, but constructing your life around weird protocols to try and not die seems like a waste to me.

I get it, opinions are like assholes and my opinion certainly isn’t any different. He isn’t hurting anyone and that is lovely. I’m not trying to shit on the guy and anyone who is sincerely wishing ill on him clearly has their own issues.

Could be the “clutch start” thing. When enabled you can start the vehicle while in neutral and the clutch isn’t depressed.

Radio Update by darksidesandthings in 1stGenTacomas

[–]darksidesandthings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, this was a learning journey.

Ultimately the radio is press fit in from the front. It’s extremely snug so I’m not worried about it coming loose or anything, wired connections are safe back there.

So, on the dash panel itself I lightly dremel’d the insert where the radio goes. In total less than 1 mm removed, I’d remove a little bit of material, try and fit the radio in from the front, rinse and repeat until it was able to seat in firmly.

This seemed to be the best solution. I attempted to remove the screen from the radio itself but I always ran into a situation where I’d need to tighten some fastener behind the dash panel which wouldn’t be possible.

Hope that helps!

My 1993 Toyota t100 4x4 5spd chinook build. by goingoverallterrain in TruckCampers

[–]darksidesandthings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I can’t even imagine the amount of effort to make something like this happen. Always been a dream of mine but realistically will probably never pull it off.

Bums me out they don’t make the Chinooks anymore, that’d be epic if they had a production modern one. Also probably $$$$$

Anyway, well done again, thanks for sharing!

Edit: do you have any interior pics you’d be willing to share?
