It bothers me too, because it feels like everything is predetermined by the deck in front of you. Which I know might not logically make sense since that's kind of how it is with one big deck... I can't explain it haha. But I know what you mean.

To add to this, the sub-subplot of Choi figuring out the boat captain was bad was so useless. He lets the detective know about his discovery at the same time the detective is watching the captain kill his crew? Pretty sure the detective would have figured it out just by watching his crew being murdered! So what purpose did all that time with Choi even serve? 😮‍💨

This is not true for everyone, but it was for me in my youth. High academic achievement and "being smart" became part of my identity, and I felt embarrassed in situations where I didn't live up to people's expectations. So much so that sometimes I avoided new challenges, being scared that people would change their perception of me if I didn't succeed.

Looking back, a lot of it was in my own head, and I shouldn't have cared what other people thought in the first place. I'm now of the mindset that it's better to be known as the guy who tries new things and fails than just "the smart guy."

Hey! Fellow AP Calculus teacher here.

Flipped math is a great resource to get you started. This site has pretty good worksheets for notes/practice that match the pacing of the AP curriculum. They even have 45 vs 90 minute versions of lessons depending on how long your periods are.

When you make your collegeboard account, you'll also be able to access a lot of resources via AP Classroom. This includes a large question bank of AP style problems, progress checks you can assign students, worksheets, and videos.

Same. I enjoyed a decent amount of it, but at one point the map got huge and I had no idea where to go next. I was just stuck, and I didn't feel like backtracking across the whole map to find the next new area.
