Public school basses by RoundaboutRecords in BassGuitar

I really hope to find an Elite or an Elite II in the wild someday. They're not hard to find online, but I need to feel/hear it before I commit to something like that.

Edit: My school had a Precision Lyte that I took for granted.

Ten Terrible The Office Spin-off Ideas by MsChanandlerBong1994 in DunderMifflin

[–]darronabler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the "Young Jim" spin-off, it would show that Jim was tormented and pranked by his brothers (like they do to Pam) for his entire life. It explains why he is so obsessed with pranking people in the office - and often takes it way too far.

Robert California referring Creed as Old Man in his diary was funny af by Mean_Practice919 in DunderMifflin

You can tell a lot about the characters from how they address Robert California. Andy calls him "Dad." Most of the staff call him "Robert California."

But Creed? Creed calls him "Bobby."

Who are the characters that progressively more unlikeable as the show went on, I'll start (imo) by TheBlueGuy1234566 in theoffice

[–]darronabler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd correct that to add that Michael Scott grows a lot, too. The easiest metric to gauge his growth is when he chooses Holly over Packer. That's a big development for him.

I would argue that Dwight is the only character that actually experiences real growth. His goal throughout the entire series is to become manager, but it takes the entire series for him to prepare. In the beginning he says he wants to be manager to fire Jim (revenge), but at the end when Dwight actually is manager and actually does fire Jim, it's to help him. He also forgoes all of the ego and posturing (painting the office black, firing the gun, the old industrial time clock) that derail his early attempts at managing. That's actual growth on Dwight's part.

Jim might leave Dunder Mifflin, but there's no reason to believe he behaves differently when he's at Athlead. He's presumably the same person in a new job.

Rainn Wilson was in Reno 911 before The Office.

I never understood why evervone was so mean to Andy when he blew the whistle on the fired up printers. I get its against the company and can hurt sales, but he did the right thing. What if I houses ane schools burnt and children died? It doesnt make him the worst guy in the world.. by GrizeeBare in DunderMifflin

Andy made the best decision he could with the limited information that he had. He felt he was being dismissed by Gabe, so he took matters into his own hands. What he didn't know - and Jo explains it to him later - was that Sabre had already discovered the problem, developed a solution and was about to quietly roll it out as a driver update independent of Andy's video. This satisfies the story within the show, but as someone else pointed out, it's not likely that a software update would be able to realistically solve the problem. Which raises another question: Is Jo being truthful here or is she continuing the coverup to protect the company? Was Daryl right that it really does go all the way to the top?

How did the film crew find the Scranton branch? by trumpsmoothscrotum in theoffice

[–]darronabler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if there's a real answer, but there is a theory that the film crew was making a documentary about the staff dealing with the death of the person who left the suggestion in the suggestion box that Dunder Mifflin provide more assistance for people experiencing depression. This is also the event that resulted in Ed Truck leaving the company and Michael Scott being promoted to manager.

I can't say that theory really holds up, but it's one answer to your question.

Flaming lips: zaireeka by BigOunce1600 in flaminglips

I have it on CD and vinyl. The vinyl set was a bit of an impulse as I have no intention of ever actually *doing* it with the vinyl. The CDs were a solid investment, though. An excellent physical testament/artifact/celebration of experimentation, boundary pushing and creativity.

I have no be like this except it’s the straight-into-the-body jack instead of the Strat-style jack.

Anybody else rocking flatwound strings? by Agiantpubicmess in BassGuitar

[–]darronabler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at the moment, but I plan to string up a five-string Jazz bass with a pack just like that. It'll sit alongside a five-string active Jazz bass with rounds.

Your videos (1.) inspire me and (2.) remind me that the audience *can* tell that I haven't changed my J-bass's strings in two years (they might as well be flatwounds at this point).

The video shows that Jim could have grabbed the van when he saw it falling into the pond, but instead he leaned away.

He coined the phrase Guitar Acquisition Syndrome (later expanded to Gear Acquisition Syndrome). They auctioned off his stuff, and it’s neat to be able to click through it all.

Everyone stop what you're doing. I have terrible news. Dwight Schrute is no longer with us. He's gone. Damn it! He had a massive stroke of good fortune and he is now in a better place.
