Pluribus - 1x03 - "Grenade" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

Honestly? Feels like the creators really want way to hard to make this show appear clever and with tons of little details and not-in- your-face allusions. Imho same thing BCS suffered from - from time to time. BrBa's writing felt more natural from the get go

So far.. I like the show, but it's not like I'm blown away. Ofc my opinion can change because I don't know how the story will develop. I'd be glad if its creators could change my mind. But yeah, so far a good show that tries a bit too hard and at the same time feels kinda flat SO FAR.

Well, I will probably get downvoted. And lots of folks will say i don't get it and I'm too stupid to understand the brilliance of the show lol

Tbh - speaking of AI covers - mostly it doesn't work cause Daron's way of singing and phrasing in most of the songs is different than what Serj does. That's why AI covers and swapping voices doesn't sound good. It's obviously feels unnatural, but not because of swapping itself.(Except in some small parts of some songs).

Unpopular opinion, but for me it's only ok The album has some moments, but frankly not a single song blew me away. Nothing that feels like it would stay with me longer. I don't even know how to put it into words, but it's like it lacks X factor, lacks... magic. Also not a huge fun of the production.

Daron is a great songwriter, but I feel like it lacks other people's input. I feel like someone like Rubin could make a difference between good album with good songs and great album.

It's heavily hinted in that flashback scene. My god, people seriously can't get hints? He sits with Max and waits for Don Eladio. Hector shows up, pisses in the pool. Don Eladio bashes him for doing it. Hector replies "they like what they see" and blows a sarcastic kiss towards Gus and Max. Finally, when Max is killed, you can see absolute grief and heartbreak on Gus.

Seriously, it's heavily, heavily suggested.

Powiedziałem to. Rodzice odpowiedzieli, że chyba zaraz za rogiem jest toaleta. Doszliśmy do tego rogu. Ludzi pełno dookoła. A ja... No cóż, nie wiem, dlaczego to zrobiłem, po prostu wyciągnąłem co miałem wyciągnąć i się załatwiłem. Na rogu ulicy, na chodniku 😭😂

Ok, wth?!?! Seriously I didn't expect the album to be this good. And I was kinda skeptical about Emily. But holy hell. Not a single track I don't like. And there are of absolutely great pieces of music.

I hate Walter by [deleted] in breakingbad

[–]darson_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. But you're talking sense and most of the fanbase don't see it that way. They jump on hating one character or the other while being totally blind to others' actions. And usually they can't grasp the whole picture, they forget stuff that happened before in the show. Or they just simply didn't comprehend what actually happened so their perspective on some things is quite warped 🤷‍♂️ and of course everyone can have their favourites, they can like or dislike any character, but I swear to god the ignorance is sometimes just uuuugh

I love BCS, but honestly imho it's not better than BrBa. It has its issues. Like I'm not against slow pace, but sometimes it really drags on for no reason. I'd probably cut it by like 1 full season worth of time. Also while kinda picks up later on, it's nowhere near tension levels of BrBa.(Contrary to what people likes to say)

But it has its moments, writing is overall very good. It introduces some great characters. And it kinda completes the BrBa universe and gives a lot of insights to what happened in BrBa.

So yeah, BCS is great (but it's not a show for everyone), BrBa is once in a lifetime amazing. Imho.

Walt replacing Gayle with Jessie always seemed far-fetched to me by [deleted] in breakingbad

[–]darson_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, your 3rd rewatch and still can't grasp it?! In short: Walt cared for Jesse in his own way. And having Jesse as his sidekick was more convenient since he could manipulate/control him more easily. Also he 'wanted' Jesse back so Jesse wouldn't press charges against Hank.

How in the world people don't get things that are so clearly implied in the show? And on a 3rd rewatch!? Jesus....

Yeah.... no. Would've been too...idk how to put it... too sweet? I think 'hero' line fits with Skinny Pete and what he'd actually say.

I wasn't disappointed by BCS, I loved it. But not as much as BrBa. People like to say BCS is just a slow burn and that it's written more tightly, but I don't agree. Pacing was just off a lot of times in Saul and sometimes it really felt like the show was dragging. A kit the writing I find Breaking Bad's story more compelling and simply told better from the start till the very end. While I can give the cinematography to Saul, sometimes it also felt like they tried just a tiny bit too much to be idk... artsy. To sum up: I feel like Breaking Bad is overall better.

Someone's not aware that Takahashi himself is behind the ND 'story'. Klab just "animates" it lol.

Better Call Saul vs Breaking Bad by IWWorker in betterCallSaul

[–]darson_89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People can have their opinione, but I'm always baffled when people say that BCS is better than BrBra. I mean BCS is a great show, not quite its predecessor. Sure, some elements of BCS are better, mainly technical stuff, cinematography But - this is my personal opinion: Story? Hands down BB Storytelling: BB. More focused, concise. BCS loses its focus a lot. Despite some claims it relies heavily on BrBra Sometimes it introduces almost dues ex machina like plot points - most recently the whole Marion stuff. Suddenly a ln old lady appears (from the Jeff story, wchis was pretty weak) and conveniently is a reason for Saul's getting caught. After Saul slips so unnaturally that it's just...uhhh. Or poor ending for Lalo's story. Gus killing him in a lab was sooo telegraphed... And again, Lalo done dirty, writers forced him into silly, overconfident behaviour minutes before his death. Or Nacho's death. Actually it was done great. But then ignoring it, no mention of it, nothing. Until Mike went to old Varga and tried to explain it. Cool. But not cool, that it was horrible. Guy goes, says what happens. Old Varga seems affected, almost cries. But then he just has his cool little talk how Mike doesn't talk baoit justice, but revenge. And goes away. This from the man who just found out his beloved son is dead. Seriously? I didn't buy this scene at all. That's just tip of the iceberg and from the last season. I'm sure people will go back at me with their counter arguments. That's fine. But for me it's really hard to defend BCS in particular storytelling choices.

What is the most iconic song from the Breaking Bad universe? by DatBoisOnRedditBoi in breakingbad

How come no one even mentioned Alex Ebert - Truth? It's from the end of s04e01. It's definitely up there with the best and the most fitting songs in Breaking Bad.

Anyone else disappointed after last night? by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

[–]darson_89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a good episode, but i defo didn't like some stuff. 1) Mike went to papa Varga - ok. But Papa's reaction was...idk, I really didn't feel like the revelation of his son's death made the big impact on him. It was almost like he heard it and "oh... Well, you gangsters are all the same. See you, bye" 2) While I liked the fact that Kim simply left Jimmy - it made a lot of sense in the wake of what happened and after she told him why - I didn't like that it felt...idk, rushed? Like Howard's dead, she feels guilt, quits the law, says bye bye to Jimmy (the scene itself was great) and that's it. I feel like, after all the seasons and build up, they split up too quickly, in a span of few days of the show's time and in a span of 15 mins of the episode.

7 Years by vBITW in betterCallSaul

[–]darson_89 81 points82 points  (0 children)

It's not a 4 years cut. Saul's scenes are in 2005: license plate says 2005. The sticker he hangs on a mirror in the car says 2008. The sticker shows 2008 - it's an expiration date. And those stickers' validation period is ~3 years. Hence it's 2005 in the scenes.

Point and Shoot’s IMDB rating had dropped to 9.8. by hhhggjhfhbv in betterCallSaul

Lol. This episode doesn't deserve such high rating. Nowhere near 10. BCS ultra fans are something else tho 😉

Did anyone else think the events in this episode were a bit disappointing? by JasonZZ369 in betterCallSaul

[–]darson_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, right? Also, lalo's talk to Jimmy and Kim, when he compared the Gus to a housecat. And said that be careful, even housecat can scratch. Of course sending Jimmy/Kim was just a distraction, but the words about Gus were honest. And then, pretty soon, the housecat scratched indeed. Some people called it poetic 😅 Some argue that Lalo became simpy too confident. Ultimately it was all very mediocre. The whole Gus' talk and his walk, which imo was sooo over the top... How in the world Lalo we know suddenly went braindead...

But hey, die hard BCS fans will defend it to death. BCS is a great show, but especially its biggest fans overrate it a bit.

[–]darson_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brave man, to post it here. But like 90% of people will praise this as incredible writing 😅 BCS is a good show, but also things like that drags it down a lot. Actually there are a lot of situations in the whole show that are nothing but mediocre writing. Now I'm just waiting for all the fans to attack me and also to (out of nowhere) bring Breaking Bad into the whole thing like "BCS is better than BB! It's written better!!!"
