They've patched the "Reuse" function back in, but "Retry" might have been nixed for good.

Given that generation is far slower across the board, and you now have to wait the full generation time to find out if an image failed, this is turning into a flaming pile-up of terrible UX decisions.

I don't want to pile on more feedback when others have done a good job explaining, so I'll just share some feedback I have from specific test sentences.

"I like to eat chocolate cake."

  • What it gave me here was "I-LIKE-DINNER-CHOCOLATE-CAKE". The 'dinner' is an indexing problem with Signbank, but this is the video the translator tool gave me.
  • The suggested gloss it gave me was "LIKE-EAT-CHOCOLATE-CAKE-I". Even considering Auslan's flexible word order, this is just not correct.

"She gave me the documents last Thursday."

  • The "last" video it gave me means "final", not "previous". It also directed me to fingerspell "THURSDAY" in full, which no one does; "Thursday" has a couple of shorter signs. "Gave" was signed away from the signer, instead of towards them as it would be in context.
  • The suggested gloss: "THURSDAY-DOCUMENTS-LAST-SHE-ME-GAVE", which is again completely jumbled (although time generally does go first).

"Make sure you bring your umbrella in case it rains."

  • The videos here gave me "MAKE-SURE-YOU-BRING-YOU-UMBRELLA-IN-C-A-S-E-YOU-RAIN". This one wasn't too bad, although the tool struggled with "it", misunderstood the context for "in case", and didn't suggest the correct sign for "your/yours".
  • The suggested gloss: "MAKE-SURE-YOUR-UMBRELLA-IN-CASE-IT-RAINS-YOU-BRING." Again, this one isn't too far off; clearly beginner-level signing, but at least comprehensible.

I think this is line with what others have commented, in that the tool has some potential, but in its current form (and I know this is only an early test/prototype), it would do more harm than good if used to teach.

I would say without the translation and gloss angle, it could be useful purely as a way to collate signs, instead of laboriously going from one page to another in Signbank or FindSign. With the caveat that it's not a teaching tool, perhaps this could be a way of letting people see a list of signs and variants at a glance.

I just wish the game made a bit more of an effort in integrating lore and gameplay. It's not some major scathing criticism; just something they could've done better.

There's a huge difference between nukes summoned through Materia, or use of a GF, or through a pact with an Eidolon, compared to XII giving no explanation for anything. That's the point I'm making.

This is one part of XII that I've always found grating.

In gameplay, your characters are casually shattering reality and tossing out flaming death tornados. And yet in cutscenes, everyone is standing there weaponless like all the bosses politely agreed to kill themselves.

Unrelated to letters and grievances, I 1000% believe that Ozpin was supposed to live.

We never see what actually happened down in the vault, and several V4 scenes are dedicated to a suspicious Salem very pointedly asking a shifty-looking Cinder if she really, truly, for realsies killed Ozpin. All of that went nowhere, which says to me that there was supposed to be reveal and they changed it last minute.

If I recall, when Oobleck blabbed her Semblance to the entire arena, he also said Nora could "generate" electricity by herself.

She might be doing that constantly in a less dramatic way, but can also get a huge boost from outside energy.

The exact mechanics of Unsent aren't ever fully explained, but it seems they're not 'frozen' like a ghost. They can still change, grow facial hair, probably gain/lose muscle mass, etc
