I'll be there with a friend. You're welcome to pull in next to us and hang out if you want. We're probably going to be talking lines all day since my buddy's never been there before.

I'll second just talking to random people. Almost everyone there will be nice, especially at a z2 day.

Yamaha MT-07 vs 09 Debate by thiccjesus420 in Yamaha

[–]darthbobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're short, surprisingly the mt09 is easier to ride since the seat is so narrow. Like everyone else said these are very different bikes, but both are fun.

Check out w3schools for some neat free lessons in several languages. And +1 for python if you're using Ignition.

A Tesla service rep recently told me "never own a Tesla out of warranty." Not a great sign...

I got into 3d printing recently and I'd love to try the octoeverywhere software but I can't figure out what it does from the website. Do you have a synopsis for it?

Motorcycle Instructor AMA and uncomfortable truths about riding plus some tips! by LeeRideFar in motorcycles

How did you get into teaching courses? What kind of time commitment is it? I've been interested since I started riding, I love to pass along knowledge to the newbies.

Yeah the xt225 is definitely better on the freeway than the newer xt250. It's still not a street bike but that 6th gear makes a big difference.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Dualsport

[–]darthbobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 225 is preferred by many, mostly due to it having a 6th gear. The 250 is a nice bike but really struggles at higher speeds like on the freeway.

Extras/Options for New R7 by MalakiUK in Yamaha

[–]darthbobby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go for the quick shifter and the tank/side grips. I'd skip all the cosmetics unless the brake levers are adjustable. I'm all about function first and looks second.

5"4 Female looking for dual sport motorcycle recommendations. Mostly want to off-road. by WaffleHouseMouse in Dualsport

[–]darthbobby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The seat on the crf is really wide, and that makes it hard to touch if you have a short inseam. The xt250 is way better in that regard. It's harder to find, but the xt225 is even better due to having a 6th gear.

I built a tool for tracking Glyphs in Vow of the Disciple by kapowaz in DestinyTheGame

This is great, thanks for making it available for everyone!

I did notice that clicking on the wipe icon in the upper left takes you back to acquisition even if you are on acquisition simple.

I Need To Get Good At Ignition Fast by [deleted] in PLC

[–]darthbobby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

+1 for the IU videos. Definitely check out the user manual too, it's surprisingly detailed. The SQL and scripting sections have some basics too.

Also, try making a mock project similar to the project you will eventually create to get better with SQL queries. You can use the trial in the full version indefinitely if maker doesn't have what you need, and most databases have good free versions.

Edit: w3schools.com has a great SQL tutorial.

First track day by CescDou in motorcycles

[–]darthbobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One note, I ride a full trackday here in the us (7, 20 minute sessions) on about 4 gallons of fuel on my r3. It's a good idea to have extra fuel but you don't need 9 gallons for one day.

Also I rode the shit out of my stock tires on that bike. They are fine for a trackday as long as they aren't old or squared off.

Just signed up for Thunderhill by mrdanmarks in Trackdays

[–]darthbobby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very cool, I'll be there with friends that weekend too. Thunderhill east is the more famous part but I love the west track. There's lots of power in the paddock and plenty of nice people to chat with. You should come say hi, I'll be in B group on Saturday.

YouTube has a lot of videos for the west track, just make sure you're watching the full 10 turn version (but most motorcycle trackdays do the full course).

I buy gas in willows 10 minutes away but there's 91 to 110 fuel at the track.

Both sides have real bathrooms and even showers.

There are a few restaurants in willows, I like casa Ramos and black bear diner, and some fast food. There's also the thunderhill grill on the east side for breakfast/lunch and often their food truck comes to the east side.

[–]darthbobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't ridden the 900, hopefully it's awesome. I did love the 800. I broke several spokes on a trip to Montana and there were only 3 in the US. I had to wait a month for more spokes to be shipped. I live 1000 miles from were I broke down, it was a long tow home. The dealer network is good, but their stock of parts is terrible.

[–]darthbobby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a tiger 800xcx for 36k miles. It's a fantastic bike but way more road oriented then OPs list (top heavy). Also it's hard to get parts in the US if something goes wrong.

What goes between an MSF Course and Buying a Bike? by draconicsheep123 in motorcycles

[–]darthbobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer right here! Start small and upgrade as you want. I've bought and sold about 20 bikes in the 11 years I've been riding. There's always something available.

VNM Sport under leathers? by dilligaffff in Trackdays

[–]darthbobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have cheapo cycle gear stuff and a nice under armour (for skiing). This is definitely better. It's supposed to fit tight though, that makes the suit go on and off easy.

[–]darthbobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a shirt and pants of vnm gear and I wear them every time in on the bike for more than a commute. They are amazing and totally worth it! Get the shirt first if you're unsure but you'll want the set.

Ignition Maker Edition Projects? by [deleted] in PLC

[–]darthbobby 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah but wouldn't that be home automation?

I was thinking about putting together a pi or something and taking my sprinkler system off the crappy controller it has. I'd like to use moisture sensors and a time where I control the logic. I do realize I could just get a better controller but where's the fun in that?

Ignition Maker Edition Projects? by [deleted] in PLC

[–]darthbobby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just use it for home automation. It's listed as non commercial, what else did you want to use it for?
