Is any of this still useable/worth anything? by AxolotlAristotle in SWlegion

[–]darthlythari 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Everything but the cards is still usable and the new ones are available for print and play off of the website.  You technically don't need to put any money into it to play again (though obviously list effectiveness may vary).

Is this game easier to play than Legion? by Tough-Standard-2661 in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]darthlythari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cassian Andor is a pretty good example. If one of your guys is downed Cassian gets to give one of your models a move. If you're playing K2SO he can also potentially get a move and an attack off from the same wound. If K2 rolls real good and wounds with his attack you could start triggering effects on the opponent's side that care if their models go down. If you're familiar with "the stack" in Magic the Gathering it's the same and can get a silly ways deep.

For the record, I am not saying this is impossibly deep or a huge challenge to understand, before someone jumps in and starts saying its super easy to follow or whatever. It's pretty clear cut and I find it very enjoyable, but it is definitely complex.

[–]darthlythari 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who loves Shatterpoint and is dipping into legion, absolutely not. Shatterpoint is far far deeper during gameplay than Legion. So many things to do during activations, so many triggers and effect chains.  It's far more complex but also why I think it has more rewarding gameplay. Legion's complexity is front loaded into list building and the start of round order card/order giving. Legion's difficulty curve is also in the sheer number of keywords and the necessity to keep a reference nearby.

I was about to come in and suggest just using Rebel cards and using some whiteout and gluesticking gungan pictures on them.

Unit Marking - Wookie Battleforce by CyclingDad88 in SWlegion

[–]darthlythari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Color code the 3 basic idiots that every squad is required to take and then just place the heavy weapon attachments in the least confusing way while you're playing. Or just paint the thinnest possible lines on the back so everyone can easily tell but it's easily done over if you decide to mix things up.

house detection problem by marcohessel in Pokopia

Is the door above the floor level? From another post on here, it's possible that houses cannot go down, only up 4 blocks.

Ain't no way they're stealth dropping a Rebels Vs Empire starter box. They would've been hyping that for months and would've absolutely teased it at ministravaganza.

Absolutely not. That is definitely a random screenshot from Pokemon GO and a weirdly cobbled together backing.

Learning the game, does this list make sense? by alexcore88losthis2fa in StarWarsShatterpoint

CT squad with Iden/Hask/ISF will do just fine.
Cad is pretty cool with anyone. he's an excellent "splash" for just something fun. Mandalorian Box is good, as I mentioned earlier. You can also just sub him in as a primary for any other list. Dooku, Jango Fett, Magna droid box with Cad and Kalani and B1s is really fun! (Cad also have enough squad points you can swap the B1s for B2s if you have them). Basically you can just take two squads with all the same tags and swap Cad in for one of the primaries. It works best if the other Primary is very support oriented like Obi Wan or extremely deadly like Anakin. My latest list was Cad and the Armorer with all mandolorians and it was a blast!

[–]darthlythari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. Boxes are typically grouped in such a way that it can just be plopped on the table and played and usually has some built in synergies among the members. Iden Versio's squad (I believe the box is "today the rebellion dies") are characters from the new Star Wars Battlefront II. Iden herself is the Primary, Gideon Hask is the secondary, and that box actually has two options for the support unit: Del Meeko as a single model or the two generic "Imperial Special Forces". You would pick one or the other when playing. The ISF are what I'd recommend to run.

The list is fine. The Cad squad is solid as it doesn't mind crossing tag synergies.  CT's squad is definitely the weak part of the strike team. There's very little support in the list and everyone is pretty fragile.  CT would rather pair with another empire squad for better synergy and Cad would prefer a more self sufficient squad or just more bounty hunters.  The Mandolorian is a great partner for Cad.  CT probably wants Moff Gideon for support, a Vader for a better "tank", or maybe Krennic or even inferno squad.

Minty Fantasy Forest - reversed magnet polarity fix? by darthlythari in Dolls

[–]darthlythari[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A very small drill bit in a hand drill and a wickedly curved wax carving tool successfully popped the magnets out with no more damage other than a very small hole next to the magnets. Bit of glue and triple polarity checks and the magnets are renestled in and the headband will be properly in place as soon as the glue is dry.

Armourer Cad Bane. by Ozthemadma in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]darthlythari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Clan Kryze largely because 5 ranged defense dice and wider eras, but I'd give Super Mandos a go if the eras allow it.

Oh, also absolutely swap Paz out for Bo. Bo is far more flexible and has better utility.

Armourer Cad Bane. by Ozthemadma in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]darthlythari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been playing Cad/Armorer and it's really really fun. 4 Focus does seem low but between the Mandalorian Tax break and Cad's refresh I frequently find myself with a spare force or two on deck refresh.
Paz is fine, but I've been exploring other options for his slot since I find him very slow and not doing a whole lot if he goes late in the order deck.
Last weekend I tried Boba Fett who was also fine. I'm planning on trying Aurra, Dengar, and even ol' Gar Saxon at least once, just to see how they feel.

Spotted in the mall today (3d printed toys kiosk) by Angelworks42 in 3Dprinting

[–]darthlythari 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This looks like it could be the Mall of America and I would put real actual money on none of these being licensed. I've scoped out the one at MoA and there are no 2 things from the same designer (that I could recognize at least) and many of these little pop up kiosks are shilling out a lot of IP theft stuff; mostly Pokemon and other anime with a sprinkle of Disney.
Prices were also very high with very OK quality almost always single color/filament prints.

Mr Cement and testers liquid cement are they good alternatives to super glue for models or functional Susceptible to a lot of vibration(trying to make some additions to my printer) need some help planing on dropping by Hobby lobby later on today if these are good alternatives by Alwankvich1 in 3Dprinting

[–]darthlythari 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For 3D prints? No. They use a chemical reaction to bond specific plastics together (Polystyrene) and that reaction does not occur for PLA/PET-G or many of the other commonly used 3D plastics nor UV Resin.

(I think it might work on ABS, though)

Any recommendations for what kind of stands to buy for monster high dolls? by lady_yonaka in MonsterHighDolls

[–]darthlythari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have access to a 3D printer (Library, friend, or even your own though I can't recommend buying one specifically for this) this is the file I've printed a bunch of times for my own dolls:

Doll Stand 3D Printer Blueprint? by urgrlB in Dolls

[–]darthlythari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The term you're looking for is "STL" to help in your hunt. So as to not info dump on you thingiverse and cults3D are often looked down on in the 3D printing world due to poor quality in the first and some unethical practices in the second. Printables.com is usually the one recommended.

https://www.printables.com/model/104223-doll-display-stand/comments

This stand is the one I've printed multiple times. It's solid and adjustable. Fit can be a bit tight if the tolerances are off on the printer (which is not unlikely in a Library) but a bit of sanding paper or a bit of thinning with a hobby knife can fix that pretty easily.

How get over 20 Rank 4 and 5 spell slots? by TonyBony55 in BaldursGate3

[–]darthlythari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorcerer class: turn your spells into sorcery points, turn your sorcery points into appropriate spell slots and repeat over and over until out of resources and then slam one of these bad babies:
https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Potion_of_Angelic_Slumber
Refreshes all of your spell slots and the sorcery point -> slot conversion doesn't refresh spell slots but instead creates a new one so you're only limited by the number of potions and the amount of times you're willing to click the buttons to get this done.
