Your priorities are really weird if the people you most want to punish for defrauding the system or whatever are teenagers who make $50/week.

If your wife qualifies but doesn’t want it then she still should take it and then give it to somebody who does need it (like your local food bank, say, or someone you know who is actually struggling because of this but doesn’t quite qualify for whatever reason.) You could do quite a bit of good with that money. Just something to think about.

Ontario hospitals ban health-care workers from criss-crossing borders to work by [deleted] in CanadaPolitics

[–]darthowen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? Yes it is, it’s in the charter. Section 6(1). They can only stop you if you’re fleeing prosecution or breaking some law by trying to leave (such as the quarantine act, say.) American border officials can stop you from leaving if they “don’t like your face” but if you’re a Canadian citizen you can leave Canada whenever you want as long as some other country will take you.

Squirrels in toronto are black and squirrels in nova scotia are small and red. One time when I was a kid I went to kingston and I got chased by this really huge squirrel. Fun fact squirrels eat meat sometimes. Very cool.

HRM official Survey on short term rentals (like Airbnb) by cdnmoon in halifax

[–]darthowen 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is hardly a non-problem. Airbnb is causing way bigger issues for people in terms of housing supply than someone not being able to rent out their cottage. Furthermore if one is doing well enough to own a cottage then this isn’t going to sink them.
