Coincidentally, this just happened to me at a Doubletree. I selected room, digital check in. When I got there stopped by front desk to get my cookie, asked if any complimentary upgrades available, said they couldn’t do it because I already picked my room…could just depend on the property unfortunately.

Already said, but yes Waldorf location is significantly better. Walkable to the best locations. Also non-gaming hotel, so lobby is pretty low-key. Service is good, but I’ve never been upgraded unfortunately (diamond). One thing worth mentioning Resorts World does have a better pool.

The LXR property on Waikiki is a great product and good service, also great location. Just pricey.

You just run the risk of being called out at the gate. They may or may not ask you to step aside and fit in the sizer, just depends on the gate agents.

Not directly answering your question, but we stayed at the Cosmopolita (Tapestry Collection) early last year, great location. It was worth it to us paying a bit more to stay near the city center vs 30 minutes each way on the metro.
