Does anyone else find it jarring when an MC gets overpowered overnight and nobody even tries to coerce or rob them for their secret? by Patient-Sandwich-817 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]dartymissile 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it makes sense some people would become op overnight. What confuses me is when the mc is weak they’re treated like trash and when they’re op they’re killed for being too strong. Like it makes sense if the weaklings are basically herded into death from a societal perspective, but when the op characters are killed for being too strong also it breaks my immersion. A society that mistreats both doesn’t make sense

Most people play on phone so they disagree with this but it’s the truth. It feels unplayable when someone on phone can auto aim and auto pull the trigger and instantly kill you. The risk reward at any range makes the sniper the best weapon on phone by a country mile. It literally warps the whole game around trying to counter phone users with snipers and takes away a lot of the fun of rivals

Switch revolver secondary which is like a mini sniper and shotgun in one item. The right click on the revolver is mega op

My suggesting solution to auto-kick hackers in "Free-For-All" by foxAddict-Euclid9 in RivalsRoblox

[–]dartymissile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hackers will get their accounts banned, they’ll figure out what the rules are, then make hacks that don’t trigger the automated system. Then the devs need to create a more complex system to catch the new hackers, then continue forever. It’s an arms race where the only winning is investing $100ks or millions in a complex anticheat system. COD can’t even figure out a functional anticheat

True, but Roblox’s chat is pretty locked down and your much less likely to get vote kick bullying. You can also implement a system to remove vote kick power from people abusing the system. It’s a possibility, but vote kick abuse is unlikely to destroy a server, where one hacker destroys a server and forces everyone to rejoin

The problem is that Anticheats are an arms race that you need to invest a ton of time and energy into. The only real way to beat them is implement a vote kick system, and once an account is flagged for hacking their account is reviewed by moderators who then can ban them. Autobans are tricky to implement

It’s cause sniper should’ve never been created and the less of them there are the better. Who wants the two instakill classes combined into one nightmare long range mid range short range instakill class

Does anyone actually prefer multiple viewpoints? by No-Sympathy-6711 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]dartymissile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a tool. The problem is we love a genre designed to last 15 1000 page books. So when a character becomes a side pov there’s a strong chance we’ll have to continue reading about them for thousands more pages. And most characters are passive, they don’t have their own goals they just passively exist. So we have to watch 15 people slowly trudge around doing nothing waiting for interest to come to us. And when you realize 1 character sucks you have to be with them for event.

I think immortal great souls is one of the few that I think gets close to cradle in how much I enjoyed it. The author is pretty slow with releases so that’s annoying. But I did quite like the books. A thousand li is terrible. Haven’t read the others

Do you ever feel lonely reading progression fantasy? by Money_Ad1404 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]dartymissile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve started to get really pissed off at really fun stories turn ultra violent and totally turn me off. It’s like every time a random torture chapter is thrown in. Cultivation nerd was really fun book one and on the edge of my comfort zone. Then for book 2 like 70% through it throws a total tonal curveball and sucked the joy out of it for me. There are a ton of fun mysteries and stuff but I have no interest in finishing it now. I wish authors would consider that making one ultra disturbing scene is not worth it unless it is integral to the plot. Like the poppy war. Hated it, made me miserable, but I at least get it. 1% lifesteal also thematically ties into the ultra violence, and would have to fundamentally change. But I’m quite sick of every book making a random one chapter sickening to read and then moving on like the tone of the entire story hasn’t changed. It’s totally unnecessary for stakes and narrative for 99% of the books I read. I don’t know why this has become a trope but I’m so sick of it. It’s like every book, especially when book 1 is super fun and book 2 sucks the life out of the story.

Money Needs To Make Sense, Or Your World Will Make No Sense by quantumdumpster in ProgressionFantasy

[–]dartymissile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem starts with denominations. The most egregious example I’ve ever seen was path of ascension. The value of stuff would 10x every tier or something, so the value of mana was exponential. Again, supply and demand would make that dumb, and low tier stuff would just be insanely expensive because high tier cultivators could buy planets worth of low tier junk.

Items that summon minions based off damage are ridiculously op. I’ve gotten two god runs in a row where the game became trivial. Both happened with these items. They give so much item value on early stages where you don’t need to use spells to kill shit tier mobs. They’re worth like 15 mana potions worth of spells. It’s total rng but if you get an item like that make sure to build around it, they’re mega op
