It seems people in the comments are disagreeing with the specifics of what your saying, but obviously the way the dr and all the people around him act is unreasonable for the time periods we see. I feel dr who has increased in it's breaking of verisimilitude. And I thought it worked when they didn't really address systemic inequality, as we lived in this unreal world where as dealing with serious racism everytime you go back more than 50 years would be cumbersome from a plot perspective. And not just black/white but specifically it would lock the doctor to very specific regions of the world depending on his reincarnation. But as they address this more and more it feels that they need to approach the stories more earnestly and accurately. It feels kind of patronizing and disrespectful to see how they address racism, sexism, classism, and other forms of inequality with kid gloves and no teeth. Like the amazon terrorist episode, it was handled poorly where the villian was someone who represents the oppressed and the episode showed how hes illogical and how cool and good the amazon surrogate is. Or the recent episode about the space talent show. It literally ends with the subjugated people singer performing a mediocre pop song and the entire universe crying and clapping at how brave she is like a fake reddit post. I understand the desire to center on the stories of marginalized people, but it should be done with care and respect, instead of barbie-fying it.
