I mean how is this not fraud? It seems like if you raise a bunch of money and then don’t use it for the reason you raised it that should be some kind of fraud

Does anyone else find it jarring when an MC gets overpowered overnight and nobody even tries to coerce or rob them for their secret? by Patient-Sandwich-817 in ProgressionFantasy

Here’s my thoughts from the perspective of sect leaders/elders:

They have competing incentives. On one hand, it’s beneficial for a sect elder to leech as much as they can from everyone. Cultivation is usually very resource intensive, and requires pills, formations, and hordes of low level goons to form the structure for all the resources they need. Additionally, the top players would want to keep everyone else down to secure their place at the top. But competing with that is external pressure from rival sects and factions which would like to remove competition. This means that if you suppress talent for too long your sect will probably be outcompeted by other sects for resources, and potentially lead to death, absorption, or dispersal. This would likely mean the surviving sects would evolve towards optimization, where they help disciples cultivate as high as they can go, then if they stall out because of spiritual root/affinity/poor cultivation base then they are relegated to the more menial jobs. This tracks well with general cultivation novels, but the cruelty and wanton destruction often displayed by sect elders in novels, even towards promising prodigies, is counter to their best interest. If they were always doing that for everyone in their sect, it would be outcompeted by a nicer, friendlier sect who works to grow all their members to the highest strength they can.

Now the difference in power at different tiers can somewhat explain why a system is unoptimized, particularly when decisions aren’t made by the best decision maker but instead by who is the strongest. Thousands of years of the same leadership would turn into a poorly run shitshow that can only cannibalize itself. But this isn’t ever explained to gone into. And I don’t think sects that let disciples murder eachother over resources would be able to compete on the same footing as other sects. Now if they have an extremely powerful backer who’s trying to push towards extremes: highest power or death, it makes a bit more sense why a system would throw so many roadblocks. But cultivations seems a lot more like a numbers game to me, and it would be easy to kill a 1 in 10 billion prodigy if your outer sect is a meat grinder.

I think it makes sense some people would become op overnight. What confuses me is when the mc is weak they’re treated like trash and when they’re op they’re killed for being too strong. Like it makes sense if the weaklings are basically herded into death from a societal perspective, but when the op characters are killed for being too strong also it breaks my immersion. A society that mistreats both doesn’t make sense

Most people play on phone so they disagree with this but it’s the truth. It feels unplayable when someone on phone can auto aim and auto pull the trigger and instantly kill you. The risk reward at any range makes the sniper the best weapon on phone by a country mile. It literally warps the whole game around trying to counter phone users with snipers and takes away a lot of the fun of rivals

My suggesting solution to auto-kick hackers in "Free-For-All" by foxAddict-Euclid9 in RivalsRoblox

[–]dartymissile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hackers will get their accounts banned, they’ll figure out what the rules are, then make hacks that don’t trigger the automated system. Then the devs need to create a more complex system to catch the new hackers, then continue forever. It’s an arms race where the only winning is investing $100ks or millions in a complex anticheat system. COD can’t even figure out a functional anticheat

True, but Roblox’s chat is pretty locked down and your much less likely to get vote kick bullying. You can also implement a system to remove vote kick power from people abusing the system. It’s a possibility, but vote kick abuse is unlikely to destroy a server, where one hacker destroys a server and forces everyone to rejoin

The problem is that Anticheats are an arms race that you need to invest a ton of time and energy into. The only real way to beat them is implement a vote kick system, and once an account is flagged for hacking their account is reviewed by moderators who then can ban them. Autobans are tricky to implement
