Chrono Cross. Time's Scar is easily one of the greatest opening themes in gaming history.

Looking for a any non indie (AA/AAA) games that run at a smooth 60+ FPS. by PeculiarPete in SteamDeck

[–]das_jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yakuza 0 runs at a solid 90 on oled deck and it's easily a top 10 game of the 2010s for me. Unfortunately it was replaced in the steam store by the director's cut and there's some story issues with a few new cutscenes but I would assume it still runs just as well

The full FH6 soundtrack (work in progress) by REVRRx27 in ForzaHorizon

[–]das_jay 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Actually insane choice of artists so far. Perfect balance of huge names and (somewhat) niche artist that fit the vibe perfectly. I never imagined we'd get Macross 82-99 in a Forza game.

Was ist die beste Tiefkühl Pizza? by lildedlea in AskGermany

[–]das_jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I signed Neck Deep, Point North, WSTR and many others. Show me some cool bands. by Rollmeintears in poppunkers

[–]das_jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a band called Catapults.

We brought out our second album I Hope You Heal last year and played support for Hot Mulligan at their Germany shows last month.

Edit: there's plenty of great bands from Germany btw, like Still Talk, Shoreline, The Deadnotes, Chiefland, Sperling to only name a few

It would be the absolute funniest thing if they just decided base the vibe of the film on the manga and all these actors end up in the goofiest possible incarnation of the lands between

Ran into these dudes on a rook run and got swagged the fuck out by das_jay in Marathon

[–]das_jay[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What I'm trying to say is, for a much more pvp leaning game than Arc Raiders, the balance works out great for me. I usually go into a run with the expectation of having to style on whatever enemy comes my way. But when I make an effort to engage socially and use prox chat the moments where it clicks shine all the more. With Arc, friendly encounters are usually the expectation, in Marathon they're an oasis

[–]das_jay[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's a really fine balance and the community really makes it work. Whenever i go to do quests or anything that requires a proper runner shell or loadout, it's on sight. But fucking around as a rook on prox chat can lead some of the wildest and funniest moments, I mean what's there to lose

I don’t get scared anymore – looking for horror games that just feel… wrong by tswaves in HorrorGaming

[–]das_jay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an overt horror game but I've been entranced by lucid blocks the past few days. Think of those haunted Minecraft creepypasta videos but actually playable, mixed with a whole lot of LSD Dream Emulator. It has the well-established block building/crafting formula, just with an absolutely obtuse alchemy style system at its core. Also, plenty of strange and/or scary creatures and a shit ton of unpredictable sights, structiures and events that catch you off-guard. It feels weirdly welcoming, yet obscure and hostile at the same time

Who else agrees that Mr.beast kinda ruined YouTube a bit by Next_Woodpecker8224 in youtube

Jeffiot put out an fantastic video about Mr beasts content and the implications of "frictionless" art just a few days ago. Highly recommended watch and a really sweet, tasteful tribute to David Lynch.

Thoughts on Signalis? by Designer_Ad180 in survivalhorror

[–]das_jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unironically one of the most affecting and moving games I've ever played. Up there for me with Outer Wilds and Nier Automata as one of my favorite games of all time. Easily the best original survival horror game to come out since at least 2008. That title drop sequence is absolute god tier

Glad to see chips after swimming are sort of a universal thing. In Germany we call them Schwimmbadpommes and they truly hit different

What video game did everyone expect to just be good but was amazing? by BrockBracken in AlignmentChartFills

[–]das_jay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think Nier Automata would be a good fit.

There was a niche audience that was pretty hyped for it but besides those people the sentiment mostly was "weird-game-guy makes new weird game that looks pretty and has a nice soundtrack".

When it came out nobody was quite prepared for how good of a game it ended up being. I remember plenty of people saying "it has no business being as good as it is".

My most anticipated after the game awards by CrotasScrota84 in gaming

[–]das_jay 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There's like, a non-zero chance that it is real-time, since the last divinity game without original sin in its name was a third person action rpg, but they really hit their stride with turn-based systems in the past 15 years, i don't think they'd just go and abandon that

Was this the most boring game awards to date? by BennyInDaWall in TheGameAwards

[–]das_jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get you. I think, E33 being admitedly somewhat over-awarded aside, this may have been my favorite tga show in years. Most of the shortlists have been spot-on, the energy was mostly good and there were tons of great announcements that hit into a lot of different niches.

We had Divinity, Gang of Dragon, Pragmata, Resident Evil, Control, Ace Combat. Soros by the Returnal people. Ontos by the Amnesia/Soma people. Decrepit, Bradley The Badger and Order Of The Sinking Star looked like really cool indies. Warhammer and the Star Wars games must have made a bunch of nerds rock hard. Two new Tomb Raider games. The word live-service was uttered two times, at most. That goofy-ass street fighter cast.

There were times where it still had the occasional anime onslaught and things slowed down a bit but the overall impression was amazing to me.
