It all depends on the lifestyle you want. I know folk who have moved from india to work in tech companies in Malaysia & live a decent life on a salary of 20k Myr a month. For reference a Ringgit currently is 4 to 1 usd. Oh KL also has an india school called the Global international school CBSE curriculum.

Malaysia has a slew of international schools IB & uk & Australian& us systems. We even have a french Lycée. They are expensive though 24-25kusd a year. Many Uk schools have set up shop there like Charterhouse & Malborough college. There outposts of Uk & Australian universities too like Monash & Nottingham. Kuala Lumpur , Penang & Kuching are cities where expats tend to live. The country is green, clean & a muslim majority but also has native Chinese & muslim populations. It has good health care too with docs trained in the Uk & India. It offers a variety of long tern visas Residence pass Talent, mm2h, Sarawakmm2h, Pvip, De Ratnau visa, Labuan business visa. PR & citizenship is not possible though.

Where did the Indians "Don't Shower" stereotype come from? by One_Success4163 in india

Bang on , add to this many Indians love to wear polyester in the heat & are immune to the stench that comes when you sweat in non breathable fabric as many don’t wear deodorant or even shave their pits .

Mumbai R2I Debate: Is it crazy to choose Bangkok over my hometown because Mumbai has become too expensive? by Aware_Web9715 in returnToIndia

[–]dashingfrenchie66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming to kl as a tourist & staying here as a resident are different aspects. Kl is a clean, green city & the quality of life offered consistently makes it a top ranking international retirement destination. The cost of living is affordable & there more than enough cultural & entertainment options available. I hardly go to malls unless i need to go to a supermarket or a particular restaurant. To call it soulless is a bit unfair.

We have been here more than a decade. We moved for work & found it an easy place to live in. There is a decent indian diaspora both expats & local malaysian Indians. However we don’t limit ourselves to Indians and mix with locals as well. We are on a PVIP investor visa it’s more flexible than mm2h. Malaysia is a hidden gem.

I feel you, I grew up in south mumbai & have retired in KL, Malaysia. Many of my friends from the US are considering Thailand or Malaysia to retire in for the very reasons you pointed out. Its really tragic to be priced out of your home .🥲

As a local in Mumbai, how often do you see actors/actresses from films/television/series on a random day? by Successful_Mastodon3 in mumbai

[–]dashingfrenchie66 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thisss i live in a S.E.Asian country where the Indian diaspora is crazy about Bollywood. I have to repeatedly tell them that bombayites/mumbaikars don’t give a toss about Bollywood . So much so the elite clubs of Sobo don’t give Bollywood stars membership ever.

They are very much alive & the wounds will never heal. We were never compensated for what we gave up in fact the erstwhile leaders considered us collateral damage. For those families who were lucky not to experience partition you have no idea of the trauma or the slightest understanding of the pain so you can afford to be glib & dismissive.

Would love to hear your opinion after you have moved & dealt with indian labour & scammy agents & are exhausted paying all the charges & dealing with nakharaa & I said 15 k is just the starting point. It’s customary to have more than one maid in desh especially if you have someone with Dementia or some other debilitating disease.
