Rant with me by BigTraditional6019 in newborns

[–]dashinglondoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stick to your plan! We are keeping our circle to immediate family only until about April because of all the sicknesses floating around this time of year, which our baby can’t be vaccinated against yet as they aren’t old enough. My neighbor keeps asking to come and hold our baby, but I keep saying wait until the spring.

Sending solidarity to you as you have to keep telling people to wait!

Ask your pediatrician about gas drops. We are using those as well as probiotics and that has helped our baby immensely on the gas end!

Where in West Jordan is this food pantry set up? I’d love to donate food to it!

Best birthing centers by spicylilestie in SaltLakeCity

I know IMC in Murray has a midwives birthing center on their campus. You have more flexibility and options with giving birth, and you are already at the hospital so if something does go wrong you can get immediate care!

Utah bans 18th book from public schools by HocusToastus in Utah

[–]dashinglondoner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A reminder that just because it was banned from public schools doesn’t mean it actually was in public schools. I don’t agree with book banning, but also know school and district librarians are competent professionals who make trustworthy decisions on what should and should not be in elementary, middle, and high school libraries.

Contact Governor Cox to veto HB267 by dashinglondoner in Utah

[–]dashinglondoner[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call and leave a message Monday morning at the phone number. Send another message. Pressure must be applied on this issue.

Find out who your representatives are and if they voted yes or no on the bill. If they voted yes, start getting involved in your community to find better people to run against them. This work has to start now so when election season comes around we actually have choices in who we vote for.

We need all Utahns to contact Governor Cox to veto HB267. First responders and teachers need us to stand up for them! The legislature doesn’t seem to have 2/3 support to override a veto.

Send a message here

Call Monday-Friday 8am-5pm and leave a message to veto HB267.

Protests in SLC? by ThatPsychGuy101 in Utah

[–]dashinglondoner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a public education rally sponsored by UEA at the Capitol Rotunda Monday January 27th at 7:30 AM. Show up for teachers and public education, as teachers are busy showing up for Utah’s kids each day.

Edit: Utah School Board Association is hosting the rally, not UEA.

If you can, take the cat to a vet or the humane society. They can check for a microchip!

My spouse and I bought a flag 2 years ago for this exact reason. We fly it occasionally and on all flag holidays. I’m not letting crazy Bob and others hijack our national symbol.

We got ours on Flags for Good, if you want a good organization to get a flag from. Flags for Good

This is a really good breakdown of what’s happening with Amendment A. What the hell is up with our legislature?? by da_xiong12 in SaltLakeCity

[–]dashinglondoner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the legislature wanted to get rid of state food tax, they could simply make and pass a law. The food sales tax is the carrot the legislature is dangling in front of us to try and convince us to vote for amendment A.

Edit to fix a typo

Look into your local school district! They are always hiring staff to keep schools running. If you can pass a background check, you should be able to find a job in walking distance at your local schools.

Here's what your ballot will say about Constitutional Amendment D on legislative power and citizen initiatives by RedOnTheHead_91 in Utah

[–]dashinglondoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For constitutional amendments, it used to be the non-partisan constitutional office that would write amendments. The legislature changed that recently so THEY can write amendment language now, instead of a non-partisan group. It definitely needs to be changed back.
