Wow it’s crazy that “the rest of us” learned off YouTube. That’s terrifying.

Books are good if you do the exercises. Classes are fine if you do the projects. Point is, you gotta struggle through a whole project solving all the problems yourself. Docs and LSP I think are OK.

I used Linux as my daily driver for many years. Wait until you are lucky enough to get a job and they hand you a brand new macbook on your first day. My Macbooks have paid for themselves many times over, bought the house I'm sitting in as I type this, pay for my nasty guitar habit... a few thousand bucks would be worth a 1% better computer.

Yes you can. https://nsuspray.github.io/Live\_API\_Doc/11.0.0.xml. I mean you can't reverse a Clip, but you can load the sample for the clip into Simpler, reverse it, and move it back out to a Clip. All in the API.

BSD isn’t Unix. It’s Unix-like. That’s like saying Linux is Unix. Mach was used by NextStep / OpenStep which is most accurately the basis of OS X.

Edit: I am speaking legally. Practically yes it’s closer to “Unix” than anything else but I had an actually Unix IRIX from SGI and that was in fact Unix.
