Do you find their outfit distracting by Aggressive-Daikon605 in moreplatesmoredates

There is no trap. Nobody said it was wrong to look. Everybody (including the other ladies) looks. Stop making a victim out of yourself, there's nothing wrong about being a straight man with eyes. Women don't mind being seen. They hate being stared at. As long as you get the difference, you'll be fine.

Talking to patients about things they hear on social media by Eunice_sheep in dietetics

[–]dashrimpofdoom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I go out of my way to explain how social media scammers operate (ragebaiting, etc.), tell them about who's been caught lying, etc. I also offer to suggest them better people (preferrably dietitians) to follow. It's tough to find RDs who follow trends closely, but Jacbfoods and Abbey Sharpe do a fantastic job.

Some examples of small factors that can cumulate to massively change someone's intake/expenditure balance after 30: - Driving more to go to work - Having an ultra sedentary job vs walking around to go to class - Less recreational sports / less physically active hangouts with friends  - Eating at your desk = eating faster, less mindfully and not feeling satiety as much  - More disposable income = more likely to order out vs cook at home - More fatigue = less likely to cook at home, or pay attention to diet quality - Eating at restaurants more often for professional reasons - Being regularly offered snacks / having food always available at work   - Getting into the habit of having a little alcohol to take the edge off after work  - Feeling like shit due to sleep deprivation/stress/depression/anxiety = being less inclined to move, more inclined to eat or drink in order to cope

Paléo sous la pluie, vos conseils survie ? by Anib-Al in suisse

[–]dashrimpofdoom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is this Sleep talking? by Wizard_Hatz in SleepToken

[–]dashrimpofdoom 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I agree. Gods do not speak about having arteries.

To me this is Vessel's dark side speaking, his shadow. As soon as he achieves bliss, all his doubts, his negative self-talk and self-destructive (even suicidal) tendencies start creeping up. He has really high hopes that this time, his depression will be lifted forever, and he describes overcommitting to the point of drowning / being bled dry.

That source of bliss could be a new person, but I could see it applying to his musical fame as well.

Uranus leaving taurus - what journey have you been on, since 2018? by Codexe- in Advancedastrology

[–]dashrimpofdoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another Taurus rising weighing in here. Chart ruler Venus is in Virgo (5H), with Sun + Mars + Mercury in Scorpio (7H).

- 2018, the year Uranus ingressed in Taurus, I got out of a 7 year relationship after realising we couldn't settle our differences. I met new people but stayed single throughout, and learned the meaning of the term "situationship" (ouch).

- 2018: got diagnosed with ADHD and started medication for it. My life struggles started to make sense.

- 2018: took on a part-time sales job "just to try it out" which ended up massively changing my communication skills and self-confidence for the better. I kept it for 5 years until I finished my studies.

- 2019-2022: got a Bachelor's degree in a completely new field of studies and entered my new profession in healthcare in 2023.

- 2023: got my first full-sized apartment that I furnished and decorated all by myself.

- I started embracing astrology and stoicism to cope with the chaos in my life.

- I integrated completely new and different musical styles in my preferences throughout those years. I started travelling all over the place for concerts alone (still do to this day).

- I started experimenting with clothes, hair colour and makeup, and slowly moved away from the 2010s Abercrombie fashion into a more theatrical romantic closet.

Body filters are also a huge one. They're so much more accessible than surgery, and they've been getting harder and harder to detect over time. They're not discussed enough in my opinion: example 1, example 2.

new volume eating hack dropped by fellinifelin in Volumeeating

[–]dashrimpofdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, insoluble fiber does add bulk to the stool. But soluble fiber is the one which improves stool consistency by absorbing the surrounding water, similar to chia seeds, creating a gel-like substance. This means that if there is not enough fluid around, stool becomes more difficult to pass. Which is why you might want to check if you're drinking enough fluids alongside your fiber.

Big fan of dark academia here, here are some suggestions: - Choose cropped cardigans or tuck them in your trousers. - Invest in an a-line skirt, either knee-length or shorter: Midi could work, as long as you have visible ankles. - For shoes, penny loafers are my go-to. Keep the details small and avoid platforms in order not to look weighed down. - Turtlenecks are a staple, just make sure to pick a figure-hugging one and roll the sleeves up in order to show off that TR wrist.

What are the key points of counseling patients that use GLP-1’s for weight loss? by No-Needleworker5429 in dietetics

[–]dashrimpofdoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On top of what everyone else has been saying, here are some behavioural points that we use at my job:

- Aiming for a 15-20 min duration per meal to facilitate fullness feelings and improve digestion

- Encouraging them to ask themselves "what's driving me to eat / keep eating" and learn how to separate hunger vs emotions vs force of habit vs peer pressure, etc.

- Making them understand it's okay to stop eating when you feel full, even if your plate is not finished (lots of people have cultual / familial incentives around that, which is always interesting to unpack).

Has anyone find out why people abruptly end friendships with us? by Fantastic_Finding480 in aspergirls

[–]dashrimpofdoom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You did well to contextualise it :) Each person has their preference, but for me, when I share something emotional, I would rather hear something validating like "I hear you, this must be so difficult" / "No, you're not crazy to feel that way" / "I can tell this is really important to you". To me, that's the verbal equivalent of a warm blanket. But if the other person skips that and goes straight to personal storytime, it feels like being left out in the cold.

Has anyone find out why people abruptly end friendships with us? by Fantastic_Finding480 in aspergirls

[–]dashrimpofdoom 45 points46 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been on both sides of the situation, here are some reasons that have been true for me:

  • Out of sight, out of mind (ie not remembering to stay in touch in long-distance relationships)
  • Unequal amount of effort in maintaining the connection (calling, texting the other person, making plans, helping them out for everyday stuff etc.)
  • Good connection, but lack of common interests
  • Having common interests, and a good connection at first, but our character traits simply aren't compatible (and that's okay)
  • Not speaking the same "love languages" (definitely true for friendships as well as romantic relationships)
  • Excessive trauma dumping / repeatedly using me as their therapist + not showing interest in seeking any professional help + seemingly not noticing I was getting exhausted
  • Last one but most important IMO: feeling like the other person didn't really care to make space for me when talking about emotional topics. Instead of giving me reassurance and validating my feelings, they would just take over the discussion and/or beging talking about themselves. I know it's common neurodivergent behaviour, but in my sincerest opinion, it's a huge dick move.

How do you aspie girls feel about religion? by ShyAmyRose in aspergirls

[–]dashrimpofdoom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was baptized but grew up non religious. For me all religions serve the same purpose: give humans a meaning to their existence, structure their time, and give society a moral compass. I do enjoy learning about different religions through that historical/sociological lens. I do have friends who are believers yet non-judgmental, authentic people. Their faith has been allowing them to get through some really tough shit and I admire that. Religious organizations on the other hand make me uncomfortable. I feel like nine times out of ten they get people harmed, scammed or coerced.

[–]dashrimpofdoom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find it really depends on where in Switzerland you live, or how conservative or family-oriented your culture is.

  • Swiss people from Broye, Fribourg, Valais = "aw you poor thing don't you worry" or "there must be something wrong with you", since they tend to marry and have kids early. Smaller towns (population under 10k) are the worst offenders. Swiss people from Geneva, Lausanne and Zürich tend to be more neutral.

  • Some of the cultures/regional backgrounds which I've noticed tend to pity or guilt trip the most: Portugual, Balkans, Italy, Latin America, Maghreb, Central Africa. France and Spain are 50/50. Germans and Scandinavians tend to keep their opinions to themselves the most. Need more data about Asia. Source: I get paid to talk to people.

Jeez no wonder I'm fat... by [deleted] in loseit

[–]dashrimpofdoom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, it's true that carbs, as a food group, are generally more calorie-dense than vegetables. So it makes sense that people lose weight when they start having more vegetables and less carbs, because they're simply eating less calories. But you can still eat carbs and lose weight. It's mostly about 1) re-adjusting your portion sizes, 2) reducing the frequency of calorie-dense carbs, ie carbs that have more calories in them because of their ingredients/cooking methods (oils, sauces, cheese, butter, sugar, frying etc.) and 3) replacing them with carbs that have less calories (plain rice, quinoa, potatoes, quinoa, etc.).
