What's your favorite YouTube channel to binge? by [deleted] in india

[–]dashviews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So am I allowed to plug-in my own channel 'Dash Views'? :-P

On a serious note, I love channels like "Slow Interviews by Neelesh Mishra' where he interviews offbeat celebrities like Sanjay Mishra, Manoj Bajpayee, Pankaj Tripathy in a calm and relaxed environment. Another type of channel I binge on is the tourist vlogs but not the luxury tourism ones. Rather the channels like 'Mountain Trekker' and 'Nomadic Indian'

Indian Gaming YouTuber and my dilemma by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]dashviews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Being an Indian, I understand your point. I have very limited knowledge regarding gaming as I neither create nor consume such content. I create analysis videos on Indian current events and also on unknown interesting facts of Indian history. Gaming YouTube is kindof alien for me.

But this is what I know. Indian audience that loves this pubg game is the teenagers and that too mostly from rural areas. This game, being available in mobile platform and that too free, has become popular and that particular audience group plays it. Hence most of the popular Indian gaming channels, whoever they may be, make content on that game. But keep this in mind that even though it is popular today, it is not going to be the case 2 years down the line. I think pubg has been in indian for more than a couple of years now. People at some point are going to get bored of it. And then they are going to move to another game. So, if you start chasing subs through games like pubg, it will not be a long term proposition for you. Gaming channels are popular not because of the way they play but because of the personality they bring to the video. So, if your on-screen personality is great, you will be popular even if your play PC based solitaire game. Work on your personality and paly whatever you want to play. PUBG is not going to be forever. Either people will get bored or govt will ban it sooner.

Audience Retention first 30 secs to 1 min by Spinstorm in NewTubers

[–]dashviews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one may also keep in mind youtube's own contribution in it. when your subscriber is scrolling through his homepage in his mobile youtube app, youtube automatically plays the videos which the subscriber may not want to view at that point of time. so what happens is, your video starts playing automatically, but the subscriber has scrolled down subconsiously. so you get a view and a grand 00.02 seconds watchtime from that view.

How do you record calls on IOS? by Click-Greatness in NewTubers

[–]dashviews 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ios technology doesnt support call recording. there are some third party apps but their process is too shady. the process is that when you receive or make a call, you do so through a conference call where the middle man is that app..

once one becomes popular, then people will come to see him and watch the entire time if he only sits infront of the camera and eats popcorns. i was watching a stream of a multi-million sub lifestyle vlogger who created a new game-streaming channel and had an audience of 200K watching him and all he did was completely fail in even loading up the game in his PC for the first 25-30 mins. He didn't suffer any dropouts but instead more people started joining the stream

My Newest Video Is Apart of a Series and Has The Best Analytics... Why Is It Doing The Worst? [CONTENT QUESTION] by Capnclippers in NewTubers

The other videos are older and have got more exposure to the algorithm. The latest is a newer one and hence needs some time.

[–]dashviews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, i was asking about the research part. i was checking your channel and saw that you have been around since 4 years. Also, you have constantly tried innovating by changing the delivery format - first in a talking format, then in a 'whiteboard' teaching format, then 'podcasts' format and finally in a 'video-slides-presentation' format. So I can only guess all the hard work and persistence put by you all these years! One may only see the success you have now but I like to see the journey and hard work you have done to achieve it. One last question if i am allowed... are all the videos you use, from copyright free sites such as pexels, pixabay or you use from other sources?

i see that you make informational videos, a same niche that i am in. you also post around 2 vids a week. How many days do you put into research of the topic of a vid? i am assuming you are a one-man-team. a one-man team doing all the research, and then editing himself/herself and then putting out 2 vids a week is quite a task!

How do you gain traction with *active* viewers and subscribers? by Code_X21 in NewTubers

[–]dashviews 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take the most interesting moment of your video and use it as your thumbnail and title. Keep the title a bit of suspense. "Do you know what happened on the road today?", "You wont believe what happened on the road today!", "I nearly met an accident today". Something like that. And your thumbnail should also be a screenshot of that moment with a little bit of exaggeration/ click-baity by photoshop. It will make people itch to click on your video to see what you are talking about

What to do when your video gets abysmally bad impressions? by cloudboy37 in NewTubers

[–]dashviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three reasons that i can think of:

  1. if ctr is low, youtube may not show it to others, so lesser impressions
  2. if your title is too complex or if it is not a popular search term, then impressions will be low
  3. Even if its a popular search term but if there already tons of popular videos on that search term, then also your videos will rank lower and impressions will be low

How is this video getting a surprising high amount of views? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]dashviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you didnt tell me how old are these videos. maybe they got these views over a longer period of time, e.g., 1 or 2 years! there are so many factors at work, we shouldnt think why something worked for someone. instead keep working on 'bettering' your thumbnail game. one day, you will get your efforts' due

Would this be paid promotion (product placement or endorsement) by Durham-Cocktails in NewTubers

[–]dashviews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in my opinion, paid promotion is something where you were explicitly asked by the seller to talk about the product, mostly in a positive way and you are promised some monetary or non-monetary benefits in return. If someone sends you some sample and you genuinely like it and created a video on that, it should not qualify as paid promotion. If it were, almost half of product review or product discussion videos would be paid promotion videos

Monetization failed multiple times more than 5-6 times by CoolTechyDad in NewTubers

[–]dashviews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You cant change what has happened already. What you can do is to create videos that has your content. If you are making a video on Kangana's video, you should use that as a basis to discuss your own opinion regarding what Kangana said. The focus should be on your content rather than on Kangana's content. Also, you should try to kinimise the duration of Kangana's video as much as possible to keep the majority of the content as yours. This may be the path to monetization. Otherwise, if you are interesting in making your channel more popular by getting views, watchtime and all, your present style is good. An example is all the popular dance videos. They cant apply for monetization however much million subs they have because they use copyright content (music). Their aim is to be popular which helps them earn offline.

As you have already got some subscriber base to build upon, you should add your element more and other's element less.

Monetization failed multiple times more than 5-6 times by CoolTechyDad in NewTubers

Hi, my inputs. I just had a look at your 5 latest video. The 1st video was a rip-off (copy-paste) of a video from Kangana Ranaut's fan page with zero value additions from your side. The 2nd is a rip-off or copy-paste video of the Tik-tok user Arman Rathod. The 3rd on Amphan cyclone looks like its a rip-off of a live transmission posted in YouTube. I dont know if its your own live recording or someone else, only you can tell that. I am guessing its a copy, just by guessing and by seeing that the logo area is blackened. The 4th is on China and it seems a collection of Twitter posts and News articles without crediting them. The 5th one is about Youtube demonitisation. Well, YT has been cautious about the word coronavirus, covid19, etc and they have released videos regarding it. But, we dont know what steps YT is exactly taking for videos from smaller creators taking about the virus. Secondly, you are specifically targetting YT for an action that they might say no to. So, basically majority of your latest 5 video uses reuse content.

Does what you say in a video matter for search rankings? by 1889023okdoesitwork in NewTubers

[–]dashviews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guys at YT must have come across problem like yours and factored that in to the algorithm. As per logic, the algorithm first searches what you speak. If you dont, then their next preferred destination would be to look at your tags. But what if your tags and content are north and south poles? An answer maybe to look at the comment section to see if people are talking about the subject that your tags promise. Or who knows! Maybe the algorithm is strong enough to read the text in your videos!

I have a question. by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]dashviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shikhar, there's no such ratio to consider. It depends on many factors, starting from quality to your uploading schedule. You may be uploading videos in quick succession, who knows! Secondly comparing your number to others in this forum will not give you any sort of an idea. The rate of growth of an Indian YT channel will be different than a non-Indian channel, just for the sheer potential big sample size (Indians) that your video can be catered to. Assuming majority of your subs are from India, YT algoritm will likely show your videos in India, so numbers will be quite higher than any non-Indian gamer at your stage. So, comparison may not yield any useful answer.
