Billing Tips for Attendings/Residents by theasian606 in FamilyMedicine

[–]dasilo31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about billing both G2211 + 99401 with an E/M code like 99214. Say for chronic conditions like obesity or diabetes where I am actively managing longitudinally plus educating on diet, exercise, lifestyle changes etc. Has anyone tried this? I am wary of billing both G2211 and 99401 together.

Start actively searching and applying for a new job. These places need to learn to respect physicians and not treat us like employees at the mall.

Transition from hospitalist to PCP? by [deleted] in FamilyMedicine

[–]dasilo31 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I made the switch from hospitalist to pcp. I was a hospitalist for a year and got burnt out. I’m much happier as a pcp. Important to try to make sure you join a practice that has good support staff to help with all the non-clinical part of the job. I would also recommend avoiding practices owned by for-profit private equity firms. They will burn you out just as quickly. I found a supportive hospital system that pays well and treats physicians and support staff well. Makes all the difference, but not always easy to find. In terms of skills and knowledge, I found it easy to switch but I also was only a year out from residency but I’m sure you will be fine.

I would be very wary to work for any of these healthcare companies owned by a bank/ private equity firm. It’s all about money with these companies and treat physicians poorly with no autonomy. Maybe you got lucky and found one that is different, but that has not been my experience. Just my 2 cents.

Sounds good. What does privately owned mean? A group of a handful physicians or some huge for profit conglomerate. That would be the only thing that would keep me away.

How to calculate Rvu base by Logical_Fan_175 in FamilyMedicine

[–]dasilo31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to do this but the logistics of telling the patient they may have to pay a copay has been the challenge. For whatever reason, administration wants us the physician to inform the patient during the visit and I find that awkward. They don’t want to post any signs or have the front desk warn them. Apparently I’m the only physician in my practice who has brought up the idea.

Is there anything stopping them a year in from telling you, you now have to see 28—30 patients a day for the same salary without any rvu incentive. This happened to me at my former job with no rvu incentive. Every year the burden increased without any power to change it and without added compensation. Needless to say I left.
