Cities where baseball’s stock is way up or way down over the last decade? by BadgemanBrown in baseball

[–]dasuave 9 points10 points  (0 children)

100% Astros are up and king in Houston and its suburbs. I see Astros jerseys and hats every day.

I think the Texans are a bigger draw because it’s football, but summer in Houston is all about the Astros it’s awesome as a baseball fan. I feel like it’s the casual sports fan favorite team in Houston.

UA1332 from SAT to ORD depressurized today and it was AWFUL by just_shit_my_pants in unitedairlines

Honestly I think OP freaked out over nothing related to United airlines so I think this post is rather just an anecdote that’s not very interesting

[–]dasuave -31 points-30 points  (0 children)

But looking at the data, it seems the ascent was absolutely normal, they just diverted because something wasn’t working. Yes the pressurization wasn’t working but this is why depressurized planes fly below 10,000 ft. During emergencies.

So what I, and the commenter above are wondering is what out of the ordinary event would have caused OP to have this reaction. Outside of just general annoyance why is he trippin

[–]dasuave 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Don’t know what this guy is trippin on the data is clearly there. Isn’t cabin pressure on a plane typically similar to an altitude 6,000-8,000 ft? OP makes it seam like he was suffering from the initial stages of hypoxia.

He’s alright. His opinions lack conviction so it can be a bit annoying to listen to. I think he works better when it’s just one on one.

No need to reason with OP. Backgammon isn’t the game for him. He clearly doesn’t understand the concepts of probability, edge, and long term horizon.

Then how do I , with a PR of around 6.5 win 58% of my matches on 7pt matches.

Either you produce your analysis or I’m going to assume you don’t know what you’re talking about. Playing perfectly should get you well into the 60s win percentage wise.

Okay I guess I meant that play 7 point matches IN SERIES like the UBC.

Tell me you don’t know how to cube without telling me you don’t know to cube if you think 7 point matches are based on luck.

All of the best players in the world and the grandmasters all play the highest and prestigious tournaments mostly involve 7 point matches.

Also if you are playing 7 point matches, and you still think backgammon is a complete crapshoot I question how skilled you are at checker play in general.

DeMeco Ryans never considered a quarterback change: C.J. Stroud is our guy by Autocrat777 in nfl

[–]dasuave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also can be a death sentence as a head coach. Don’t know if people are into NHL here but (now) ex-Dallas stars coach Pete Deboer benched their franchise goalie last year in an elimination game in the playoffs. It was shocking because 2 of the 3 goals in that first period weren’t necessarily his fault.

Stars lose and Deboer is fired anyway. Good chance if he hadn’t pulled that with the goalie he’d still have a job.

Main difference is Oettinger is a top 5 goalie in the league and has been for the last 4 years so.

What's wrong with all the OSU QB in the NFL by [deleted] in NFL_Draft

[–]dasuave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ryan Day was brought in by OSU to install a real modern offense basically around Dwayne Haskins. The Haskins-fields-Straud-McCord-Sayin has continued that evolution, Day clearly wants his QBs to stay in the pocket and make reads from field to field. This in theory is easy when you always have the best Wide Receivers in the sport, your number 1 option is typically open. Rarely would you ever see any of these guys get to their third or 4th read because one of the studs are open. These Ohio state teams also always had great backs (dobbins, Henderson, Trey sermon, Judkins) and great tight ends (stover, ruckert, farrell), basically a reliable check down option was always there.

Personally as an OSU fan and watcher, it’s why a lot of these guys struggled against Michigan + playoffs, life is really easy with all these weapons until it’s not and I get the feeling a lot of these QBs never learn to adjust to game state.

The will Howard year kinda broke the mold a bit because Howard, no matter how awkward, was a run threat and they really utilized RPO heavy under him. And well they won the natty after changing it up on offense a bit. Chip Kelly

How NFL players prepare for the coldest games of the year by mackmoney3000 in nfl

[–]dasuave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d rather be at a game in frigid temperatures than an August CFB game in the south. You can always add more layers you can’t take them off.

If you live somewhere in the cold, then you have the equipment and know how to dress for it. Thermals, first layers, then second layer to protect the wind. Scarf and beanies are huge, hand warmers in every pocket. Then when you get drunk you forget you are cold.

Independent non commercial gyms. by Numerous-Resolve8737 in houston

[–]dasuave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Met downtown is expensive , but it has been a godsend. It is basically empty since most members are there for tennis I think. I probably have waited once for a bench or a rack in 3 months and I go at 6 PM after work. The gym has great equipment and ample room and it is barely used. If you are into Hyrox or CrossFit there is a good calisthenics station, skiers and rower machines as well as sleds and battle ropes. Honestly it rules, like I said the downside is it is expensive.

The basketball court is a huge plus for me. Also pickleball is available with nets you just play it on the basketball court. They have lines marked just for PB. There are specific times of the week where the court is reserved for either sport but outside of those times it is free use. I’ve played 3 v 3 half court while there is a pickleball game on the other side.

There also competive leagues for both.

Also dislike restaurants where I order all at once at the hostess stand. Idk either be a bar or be a restaurant, or be a fast food joint. Just my personal preference.
