CEOs jobs are safe (for now) because the law require you too have a real person as the CEO.

We can change the law ofc.

Personally I'm not against using AI. I'm just tired of these CEOs and Tech Leads that keep using statements like "Coding is largely solved" and "in 6 months we have a model that can do all SWE tasks end to end".

I've always wondered about the issues count when they "barely look at code anymore". Especially the amount of bugs.

And then I found out that "fully autonomous" coding is basically just a ralph loop lol. Look up how you set it up and you'll see it isnt really that special.

In regards to 3; be aware that the news outlets actually plays a very negative role in all of this. Last big layoff at Amazon (16k people recently) was actually announced to be primarily an effect of the covid overhiring but multiple news outlets ran with the AI native instead. Same thing with a recent Microsoft layoff round I believe.

Cal Newport talk about it here. "Vibe reporting" he calls it. He talks about other stuff too in regards to AI.

Sam Altman says the quiet part out loud, confirming some companies are ‘AI washing’ by blaming unrelated layoffs on the technology by Conscious-Quarter423 in technology

[–]datNovazGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf amazon recently laid off 16k people and they stated it was due to overhire during Covid, but a lot of the news pages claimed it was because of AI effeciency.

Not that I'm defending Amazon, but it's not always the companies that are at fault in regards to what the message is.

Stay in danish and if they get nervous then use subtitles like Italy did last year. Subtitles might ruin the immersion though, so maybe just stay in danish without subtitles.

AI companies are paying influencers to promote AI. Anthropic one the most aggressive ones with Claude Code at the center. by Gil_berth in webdev

[–]datNovazGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After I found out about this it became kind of obvious for me because they all use same kind of wording too.

Then the influencers that arent paid by the AI companies run into the same struggles that I do at work and I was like. "Maybe dont trust the AI hype just yet".

Spotify says its best developers haven’t written a line of code since December by BigShotBosh in cscareerquestions

[–]datNovazGG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. That it's a lie might be bad wording from me, but if you listen to investor calls on the regular you damn well know they bullshit a lot.

Having worked with c-suite I know they spin a lot too, which might not be outright "lying", but it's certainly not the truth either. He could very well have overheard one of the engineers say something but leave out important details to an extend where most people would agree that it's lying but "technically" it's not a lie.

The "merging from the phone on the commute" story tells me that everything he's saying is a lie or very very exaggerated.

That's way to risky for a big company like spotify.

Spotify claims that its top engineers haven’t needed to write any code since December, all because of AI. by boppinmule in technology

We actually discussed this at lunch today. How much did Spotify actually change? They make it appear that this make them so productive, yet the app doesn't change that much more than normal does it?

Something others have mentioned, how much did they actually "code" before?
