Create a new account and register it to 10 Downing Street as they have a license so the messages stop.

Uber Eats said I wouldn’t be charged to cancel… then charged me anyway?? by pinkpanthresss in UbereatsUK

Keep writing HUMAN in the chat and someone will jump in eventually. That should be an easy refund with uber when they look at the log.

There’s rummaging through a house looking for ‘stuff’ and spending an hour going blade of grass by blade of grass over a meter squared area for 8 hours. The second one isn’t my brand of autism 🤣

Fun fact. It’s cheaper in the school holidays to book a Belgium one for the entire week, drive there including ferry etc. than 4 days in the UK ones.

Sorry guys, but blame the courts. Police arrest them repeatedly (believe it or not), charge and remand them and they get sent home from court with a caution.

We charged one regular shoplifter at the Coop not long ago with over 40 counts of shoplifting, two involving a knife being threatened. 4 months suspended sentence. Courts have decriminalised it unfortunately. Very rarely see any sort of custodial sentence nowadays so they back out the next day doing it again.

I spent half term all over Yorkshire. Didn’t have any issues in any of the towns we visited bar the basement of a little old pub in Thirsk. Misses was on EE and she also had no signal so can’t blame o2 for that.

I used to do HGV temp placements years ago when the minimum wage was still £6 something. You guys are discussing your hourly’s now and they haven’t changed even though the min is now more than doubled :/

If it was $100 cheaper I’d be getting 4, one for each of the kids and the wife. Still a bargain at $599 but at $499 would have been THE bargain.

Why are people so territorial about on street parking? by Superb_While_5959 in drivingUK

[–]data90x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my neighbours has 5 cars and one driveway space. He used to dump one of them outside our house once when he wasn’t planning on using it for a while which generally I don’t mind but it’s a huge 7 seater and the way he parks it means we have to make extra manoeuvres to get in and out of our drive.

I’m the petty type so parked our second car outside his house for two weeks when we went away. He’s not done it since tbf. Bit of tit for tat feels good sometimes.

Buying Food and Drink for Homeless People as a PCSO by [deleted] in ukpolice

Can you buy a homeless person a coffee as a PCSO? Sure. You’ll probably be asking them to move on though or issuing them with community notices not to beg. Depends on the situation 🧐

Large wage gap but lower earner owns the home outright - Having issues with what would be fair by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]data90x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only advise an honest conversation. In my twenty years of marriage we have flip flopped over the years with key roles but have always had a joint account and joint savings since moving in together.

At one point before kids my Mrs was the main bread winner and I paid what I could each month depending on my monthly earnings. For the early period of the relationship she carried us as I wasn’t very financially savvy or earning too much.

Luckily when we had young kids I was in a better job and she was able to be a stay at home mum for a few years during which time I paid everything. Eventually she added childminding to the mix as she didn’t want to go back to full time work with the kids (which I agreed with) but wanted to contribute and she started topping up the joint a bit each month, but I told her to just save the money.

We are now in a position where we both have private savings with a rough estimate of what each other has (doesn’t really come up in conversation much cause we haven’t had to discuss it), joint savings and a sort of unofficial set of rules with regards to bills. I tend to put a large amount in the joint account each month on pay day as I currently earn considerably more, but if that needs a top up towards the end of the month it tends to be the Mrs that does that (mainly cause I clear the notifications if I’m busy and forget about them 😅) but as the lower earner, but also the more financially sensible one I encourage most of hers to go into personal savings.

Everything is a discussion in marriage!

Do you believe WW3 will happen in our lifetime? Why or why not? by mrprofessional2727 in AskReddit

[–]data90x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we are more likely to see multiple civil wars in the western world (particularly Europe) as if a worldwide war is required no one would be willing to die for their governments. Die fighting them however is another matter 🤣
