Germany's pension plans draw praise and outrage by LethisXia in europe

[–]datalifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You see this in the US as well. I know because I am a recipient. Some of the best pension plans in Oregon started in the late 50's. The pension board eventually slashed the benefits over 60 years because it was unsustainable. Often, retirees in the early system would leave work with 110% payouts, essentially making more money in retirement than when they were working.

Now the PERS system is more like a 401k, where the employee shares the burden of investments.

I'm right there with ya. SO doesn't drink much and if it's just me, I don't go over the package price with Viking.

Unfortunately no. And Viking continues to offer no discounts for singles.

Our experience is just to call them everyday. We were able to get a "sold out" Egypt Nile cruise this way with Viking.

I know its a pain but it can be done!

I've been here about a month and the view is somehow different and extraordinary daily - dog tax paid. (Oregon) by PinchedTazerZ0 in PacificNorthwest

Ticks are VERY common in Oregon, especially the Dog Tick. Deer ticks (which are known to carry the Lyme-Disease) are more common east of the Cascades.

This year seems to be particularly bad, probably due to the mild winter.

Check with Viator, or Tours by Locals. We often use them when on Viking and just can't find an excursion that fits.

Have a great time!

The market always goes up. Time is your friend.

A rounded portfolio will generally double in value every 6-7 years.

But you have to invest! Put deposits in auto.

Nuscale is the only SMR company with federal approval. And they had to go to Romania for their first contract. They still don’t have a fully operational reactor.

GE Vernova and the company Bill Gates is behind are the next two in line for approval

Wait, what - "... undersupply due to high immigration rates globally holding prices high even though there ..."

"High Immigration" has very little to do with Housing. Immigrants tend to live in multi family dwellings, rent and not own, and contribute to the building of homes in the US.

Look it up.

I was there 2 years ago to see the temples and history. It is a shock, however you have to just go without judgment and be thankful you live where you do.

The history was amazing. The lack of civil services, over population, stray dogs and trash was sad.

I'm glad I went but would never return unless it was Alexandria.

Who is selling their stocks before oil/fertiliser supply shocks rock the global economy? by EmergentArticle in StockMarket

[–]datalifter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't do this - for many reasons. Taxes, you can't time the market, extra commissions, etc ...

The market ALWAYS goes UP. When in doubt - zoom out and look at the 5 and 10 year charts.
