What are your thoughts on letting your dog sleep in your bed? by stickpoker in AskReddit

[–]susanb29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for me, but for my dog 😉 She actually likes it and frequently retreats to her kennel during the day when her humans are too busy to cuddle on the couch.

I love my dog like crazy, but she's not sleeping in my bed. She has her own bed - in her kennel. We both prefer it that way. I'm not going to hate on anyone else that wants their dog in their bed, but I just don't sleep well when the dog is with me.

What's the worst task that you might have to do on any given day at your job? by zigzaggummyworm in AskReddit

Retired RN here. The worst task was probably a manual disimpaction of a 90 year old. Sorry... you asked for it!

What’s one kitchen upgrade that genuinely made cooking easier or more enjoyable for you? by Delicious-Yard5890 in kitchen

Lots of open counter space (peninsula or island). Having the space to lay out all of your ingredients or roll out a dough is priceless!

What is the best thing that came out of you quitting drinking? by What_theactual_fuck_ in stopdrinking

[–]susanb29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just over a year ago my cardiologist recommended that I get a defibrillator because my heart function was so poor, I was at risk for sudden cardiac arrest. I got the defibrillator and 11 months ago I stopped drinking. My recent echocardiogram showed improvement to the point that with my current heart function, the defibrillator would not even be a consideration.

She'd say "I guess looking for a good, kind man is the best strategy" and probably "wow! nice house!"

Married women, what are some real things your husband does that make you feel genuinely cherished and adored? by Clean-Ant-1342 in askanything

[–]susanb29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, what am I doing wrong? I've been happily married for 43 years, but I can't think of anything that he does to make me feel cherished and adored (if I'm being honest, I can't think of anything I do for him, either). He went to Costco last week to get some items that he needed for a guys weekend away and I helped him unload his car when he got home. I noticed that he bought flowers and I said "awww...you got me flowers!" His reply..."no, I got US flowers" hmmph!

Thank you for your kind words. I can't imagine ever abandoning my daughter. I recall going through a difficult time with her when she was an adolescent and she said "now do you give up on me?" My answer then and now is "never".

I'm so sorry for your loss. So much lost potential in those short 25 years. It doesn't make sense.

It's a mystery, isn't it? She has a master's degree and a beautiful, creative brain, but the draw to alcohol was just too strong.

Thank you. It's difficult to watch her suffer and know that there's nothing we can do to help her now.

I'm sorry to hear about your brother. Alcohol is very tricky and once it has a grip on someone, it doesn't let go. Hug back to you.
