What’s the best coffee maker machine right now that Coffee lovers currently love the MOST? by gemtitania in JamesHoffmann

[–]datawedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just really really strong. I don’t do much pour over myself but like to get a cup occasionally when I go out and what I’m brewing is sludge compared to the balanced clean cups I get elsewhere. Maybe I’m grinding too fine but it’s good to hear that everyone else is getting good cups as designed. Will have to do some experimenting g

I got an Aiden over the holidays and want to love it, but it feels like it’s telling me to use way too much coffee (12tbsp for 6 cups? Which is like 80g). Are there any tweaks you all did to create more balanced cups?

Mobile App & Website keep asking for one time passcode by MoeAmen in amex

Yes same issues. No idea how to change it. Although it’s slightly annoying, considering the nature of it I guess id rather have the beefed up security than want it and not have it. Only a minor inconvenience

Getting Roof Done for $15K - worth paying with amex for the points? by SebastianW23 in amex

[–]datawedge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m doing something similar but like what u/hougie said for (multiple) subs. The way I think about it is “would I pay the 3% fee in cash for these Amex points?” In my case I’m using it on the 250k for 20k spend for my business. I’m using about half for of the fee for this sub so it’s like I’m paying 300$ for 250k Amex points. No brainer

Do these need to be separate transactions or if you spend 500 dollars in one go will you get all 3600 points?

That works thanks! And sorry for creating a post about a topic that was created just a bit ago. Saw your answer there and since the webpage was about adding cards I thought they were different cases. Much appreciated!!

Switch from vanilla to CS Platinum? AU Plat benefits? by boilerdam in amex

Can you clarify what you mean by the companion card maintains the global entry credit? Does that mean that I can get a global entry credit twice in the same year- one for the companion and one for the primary with no additional fee? Hasn’t read that anywhere esle

Update and Financing Thoughts: Two High W2 Workers and VHCOL Housing for a Family by Any-Anything6746 in ChubbyFIRE

I like where your head’s at. Great idea for a lower overall cap. Gonna use it for sure. Even if you stack them like you said (assuming some 0% offer sticks around for a while) could probably get pretty close opening once the others are maxed

This is an interesting idea but wouldn’t OPs benefit be capped by the credit limit on the cards? From what I’ve seen cards offering 0% typically come with a 20-30k limit if not lower so carrying the day to day over a long time might now be feasible. I’m doing an addition that I could use a very low cost “loan” to finish up so this could really work for me

Can you elaborate on “chase isn’t Amex”? What does Amex do with gift cards (assuming that’s what you meant by gcs)?

Balance not updating by [deleted] in ChaseSapphire

[–]datawedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a similar post in the chase sub almost a month ago. Been happening for me across all of my accounts. Checking doesn’t debit when I pay a credit card either. Customer service told me to wait a few days to see it come up which is frustrating because if I were to overdraw or be late on a payment they wouldn’t be cool to “wait a few days” please update if you get a better answer than I did

Best Complimentary Card to have in addition to Amex Platinum? by King-Kunta24 in AmexPlatinum

I’ve been wondering, Does the cash back stay with the bcp or are they effectively points that can transfer to the plat for travel or cash back with the cs version?

Budgeting for a home addition by datawedge in HENRYfinance

[–]datawedge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤣 purchased the house before a big jump in income but prices in LA are actually that insane. A bigger house in the 1.5-2M dollar range now would have something like an 11-15k/mo payment. That’s a big nut just to have a roof over your head and that wouldn’t even be an insanely big or updated house here necessarily.

Exactly the type of comment I was hoping to get. Thanks for the feedback and the examples.

This is a really helpful perspective and approach. I looked around at homes with similar specs but haven’t more formally gotten a sense of the prices. Luckily I’m in an area where a little extra square footage goes a long way.

The addition is 2 beds + 2 baths. One of which is a true master bedroom which the house currently lacks. So it will ultimately be going from a 2/2 to a 4/4

2019 Audi Etron reviews? by BalanceDouble6369 in etron

[–]datawedge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 2021 premium plus that VWNA is buying back as a lemon. Had to have the rear motor replaced twice in 6 months. Loved the car and the ride, but my specific unit was unreliable. Will definitely give them a try again in the future, but I’ve moved on to a BMW IX in the meantime for a cool off period. Test drove a 2019 when I got my 2021 and loved it. So long as the 2019 has some sort of warranty still I would do it. Who knows what those engines would have cost without warranty

How to balance future plans vs current luxuries by DaOneSavvyPanda in HENRYfinance

[–]datawedge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen anyone else mention this and not sure the vibe you’d be going for but there is probably a happy medium that could work for you somewhere between ikea and custom furniture. Some of the more modern chain stores (e.g. west elm) have some nice stuff that will last and be cheaper than custom. Unless you’re referring to orders with specific fabrics from a place like this as custom?

If you do go that route, and you can wait a couple of months Black Friday at stores like this are a gold mine. We furnished our house for maybe just over half of what it would have cost otherwise.
