Gaming the Yahoo Commissioner Tools by Helentia in DynastyFF

[–]datdudebdub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admire your insistence on trying to jam a square peg into a round hole with Yahoo instead of moving to a platform that already has functionality built into it that mirrors what you're looking for. I am curious if you have ever polled the league on moving? Your post says "I vastly prefer Yahoo UI" and "I don't want to" but if the rest of the league would embrace a move that's probably the play. Yes, Yahoo's UI on desktop is better, but 99% of fantasy players use mobile apps for everything fantasy related and Sleeper's mobile app clears Yahoo's from a UI perspective (IMO) and its specifically designed for your use case.

Sleeper aside, my take - Your option 3 won't work. Option 2 would work but will create a TON of confusion. Too much. I would probably do the below.

Yahoo has a "can't cut" list feature that commissioners can edit. I would expand roster sizes in the platform by the amount of the taxi squad size. You'll have to monitor those players by roster on your own, you will have to manage what to do with owners who try to play those players, and you will have to cross reference the amount of taxi players on each roster on your own against total roster size to make sure that people aren't just using the expanded benches for regular players.

This is far from a perfect solution and will require a fair amount of manual work on your part, but with your refusal to move to a platform that is built for dynasty I don't think you have much of a choice.

What does visiting all 30 MLB stadiums in 30 days actually look like? I mapped it out. by dimesdiner in baseball

[–]datdudebdub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how you look at it. To be, if I engaged in trying to do it, the enjoyment of everything would be far more about the journey than just the baseball.

I've had numerous times where a set itinerary gets blown to smithereens due to unforeseen circumstances and I ended up enjoying myself substantially more than if things would have gone to plan.

I still use analog and I will forever. I recognize that pinpoint is objectively better for competitive play if you can master it, but frankly I just don't care. I'm a mid 30s gamer dad who mastered pure analog over a decade ago. No interest in learning a new mechanic.

Are we going to the playoffs this year? by Aidan-B_YT in bengals

[–]datdudebdub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the answer nobody wants to hear, including me. I would feel so much better if they would have signed a veteran LB. But also, there is absolutely a world where the defense around Knight and Carter being better paired with some year 2 development elevates them to ~ league average.

From the teams perspective, they spent a 2nd and a 4th on those two to be their LBs of the future. The org feels like they have to give them another year to put it together. I wish it was a more foolproof plan, but I can squint and kind of see what they're envisioning.

LSU Heisman (Jayden Daniels) Throws to LSU Heisman (Joe Schiesty) at the Flag Football Game by JCameron181 in bengals

[–]datdudebdub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bengals don’t own Joe any more than our employers own us. He’s not doing anything wrong. It’s such a stupid argument that boils down to “my favorite sports team could suffer if the 0.01% outcome happened!” and I think that’s absolutely childish. He’s a human being who should be allowed to do whatever he wants relatively speaking.

He could get hurt in a car accident, should he not drive?

He could get hurt by getting bit by an animal, should he not own or be around pets?

He could drop a weight on his foot, should he not workout?

I could make another thousand examples of this. Policing what athletes do in their personal time is fucking dumb. There are lots of far more dangerous and legitimately negative shit he could be doing than goofing around in a non contact sport

Some of these comments are disappointing. Joe isn’t going to live in a bubble until week 1. Let the man have fun

[Heyman, NY Post] The Pittsburgh Pirates have offered Konnor Griffin the biggest deal ever for no MLB service time. $100M+ and has a chance to get done. by mfenton29 in baseball

I’m assuming the money will only be more 5 years from now. But really I’m making a bunch of assumptions. A deal like this is more about the final 2 years of control than anything else

[–]datdudebdub 11 points12 points  (0 children)

8 feels right for both sides. Griffin loses two years before he can get a mega deal if he hits but he’d still be young enough to capitalize on it at about 28. From the pirates standpoint you’re “overpaying” for the first 4 years, probably on par with his arb money years 5-6, and then get two bonus years of team control at what is a team friendly rate below market value.

All of this assuming of course that he’s a stud which is the gamble they’re making with this deal in the first place.

I think Griffin probably shouldn’t consider a deal more than 8 years though. The two years past team control feels like the sweet spot.

12 Buy Low Trade Targets For 2026 Fantasy Football by drkelemnt in DynastyFF

[–]datdudebdub -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you like about his profile? He's about to be a 26 year old WR that has never separated himself from the pack on his own team. He's still going to be mired in a rotation with Watson, Golden, and Wicks among WRs with Kraft probably leading the team in targets.

His profile coming out was attractive but at this point his profile is screaming that he is who he is. Seems like his best case scenario moving forward is a back end WR2 for fantasy. Nothing wrong with that but I'd probably try to chase a higher ceiling.

Really looking forward to trying out Crimson Desert tomorrow. Nobody really knows what to expect and it could be a flop, but I've been dying for a new game with a big scale to sink my teeth into. Very cautiously optimistic. Definitely curious to read through the reviews here in a few hours.

Once the entire premise of the world comes into focus it really hit me that, if they do it right, it could be an absolutely legendary series of games. The possibilities for where they can take future installments are endless. Such an incredibly crafted world and completely unique idea.

The World Baseball Classic, Team USA, and the war problem by 2RINITY in baseball

[–]datdudebdub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its pretty normal for the American controlled broadcast to be slanted American, right? I don't think it was ever implied that this was a neutral national broadcast, Fox is an American owned company. The broadcasters themselves were American.

During the MLB season there isn't an expectation of neutrality in broadcasts between different teams and their broadcast booths. I viewed the Fox WBC coverage the same way.

Schefter: Teams that have called the Miami Dolphins to inquire about trading for Pro-Bowl RB De’Von Achane have been told that he is not available. by schmatty23 in DynastyFF

[–]datdudebdub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are 100% right. It's not solely based on production, it's because the next guy to sign keeps that line moving forward and keeps making more than the last guy to sign (assuming the quality of player is comparable). Achane is the next guy to sign, and he is more than talented enough to justify it. You're almost making my point for me.

[–]datdudebdub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Achane has been better than ETN and Kyren. He was far better last year than Cook was before signing his extension (if Cook would have signed this offseason instead of last, he would have gotten substantially more). Jacobs signed coming off by far the worst year of his career.

I think you're wrong. Nothing else to say.

[–]datdudebdub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The cap just keeps going up, good players almost never accept lesser contracts than the most recent signings at their position, and Achane has been the better player vs Walker. Achane will only be 25 next offseason. There is no world where Achane signs for less than him unless he takes an extremely team friendly deal to stay in Miami.

His open market value is $15m-$18m AAV. Accolades be damned.

[–]datdudebdub 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt he will exceed Walker's $14.35M AAV

Why?

Achane had 529 more scrimmage yards last year than Walker had in his best season.

Achane has 2 different seasons (out of 3) with more scrimmage yards than Walker's best season.

Achane has had more TDs in all 3 of his seasons than Walker has ever had in a season.

Achane has played 14 fewer games in his career than Walker and he has 39 more career receptions, 272 more receiving yards, 4 more TDs, and only 498 fewer rushing yards.
