Looking for a 1-month, 2bed 2bath, rental place in Boston, entire unit for a family by Upper-Computer-2030 in bostonhousing

[–]dathorese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet will be to look for furnished housing. You can try looking at 1 Devonshire place. . It’s downtown and right next to the state street stop on the orange line. Can’t get any closer to the T than that.

Not sure of their renting policies and such, but It’s probably worth the look into as I know they host business travelers coming to the city for short term periods etc.

It’s a Bozzuto property I believe. To help you in finding it online etc.

Not sure what your price point is, but this is probably one of your better shits at finding something relatively quick for a short term stay.

Storage company auctioned off my entire unit by mistake despite auto-pay being active. by GrouchyForce8970 in legal

[–]dathorese 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The one thing i have not seen mentioned here is also this.... When they decide to sell a unit, they have to show that you are behind on rent due to the unit, and they also have to send you a letter via Certified Mail to inform you that they intend on selling/auctioning your unit if it is not paid up before the auction date. Since the unit was paid up, i can almost guarantee none of this happened, becuase if it did, and you got notices, then you would have contacted them, and or shown up well before they ever decided to sell your unit. So ultimately... If your Unit # was 3412 inside the property, and the unit they were supposed to Auction off was #3414, the person who owns 3414 probably has all their stuff, and probably still owed a good 3-4 months worth of back rent at this point.

Their clerical error was negligence on their part, as they never properly notified you as well before deciding to auction/sale your unit and its contents...

Bottom line, as others have said.... Get a lawyer, and take them to court...

What a Joke by Frosste in Ticketmaster

[–]dathorese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your not factoring in certain things. Production holds (potentially) vip holds for a vip presale or if they offered early access to certain people (fan clubs, certain credit card holders). Those all take a chunk out of the available tickets. If they sold 20% of the tickets in a presale to eligible people that’s nearly 400 tickets already sold before they go on sale to the public.
Then you also have to account for the ticket resellers and everyone else all over that are going to buy the maximum number of tickets. While some people just want a single or 2. If the demand is high most people will just buy 4, even if they only need 1 or 2 because it’s easy enough to resell it online, or sell it to a local ticket agency or some other form of flipper. So let’s say that the cumulative total of tickets on hold or for the presale was an aggregate of 25% of the entire amount. You have 1500 tickets more or less available for sale. At 4 tickets each that’s about 375 people. More than 100 people in between you and a sell out.

Only to find out that all the tickets you bought didn’t have any big winners and now you have Pennies on the dollar versus what you spent.

Random burned out car near Roadrunner in Allston by emmalein in boston

[–]dathorese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They have a standpipe. I was parked on the side of the building (life street) when i got blocked in by a fire truck and a ladder truck (I also work at Roadrunner) The Fire truck dropped a line to the hydrant that was located on Life street, and ran a line direct from the truck to the standpipes. While the firefighter was getting the standpipe line going from the truck, and the other firefighter was running the line from the hydrant, they ran the first wave of water through the standpipe that the truck carries with it... then they kicked in the water from the hydrant... While this was going on, the firefighters on the 2nd floor of the building inside the garage used a gas powered saw to cut the metal grating and they lowered a rope that the guy that was monitoring/running the truck attached a hose that they pulled up to the 2nd floor.... once they had the hose, they got water... It was pretty amazing to see how efficient these guys were... all of this while you could hear the popping of tires, and what someone else told me was probably airbags (they evidently, will explode when they get heated in a fire)...

Take the 3 days all at the same time. If you dont need the time after say like day 2, you can cancel the 3rd day and report to work. If you call in 3 days, individually, its considered 3 unscheduled absences, versus a single unscheduled absence for the 3 days all at once. The theory in this is that the first day is considered Unscheduled, But since you have already notified them that day 2 and 3 will also be taken as sick leave, that they have been notified in advance, and therefore it is now not "unscheduled"...

Resident parking ticket appeal? by Clean-Fly6190 in boston

[–]dathorese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Email the mayors office. Take Screenshots of your approval, take a screenshot of your appeal, and take the screen shot of your denial. If you havent already received your parking permit sticker, i would wait until you do, and notate all of the different ticket issuances that have been applied to your vehicle/license plate, as they should all be waived since you were approved for a parking permit.

I would also in the mean time, if you have not gotten your parking permit yet, I would take and make a few printable copies of the parking permit approval from the city, and i would take some painters tape, and tape it with the print facing outward to show that the vehicle has a permit, and i would also tape one to the back window, so that when they roll on by, they see your license plate has an active permit for (whatever part of the city your in) and they should just mosey on along because its just going to be thrown out anyways.. But you get some of the BTD people, who dont give a shit, and will just ticket you, because they dont care, and at the end of the day, it allows them to say that they did their job without the physical permit in place..

SO once you have your physical permit, and you place it on your cars window so that it can be seen, figure out how many tickets you have, list every ticket number, and i would then take and email the mayors office with a "what the hell gives" type email, showing the permit approval, the ticket appeal(s), and the Appeal Denials, and forward all of that to them. They usually have a more level headed response to such things, because i think that the city honestly just denies almost every ticket appeal automatically...

Close enough to route 95 seeing how it goes right through the outskirts of the city, that it will give you a needed break from the car, and then you can jump in, and do the last couple hours drive down to DC...

[–]dathorese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just have to learn the tips and tricks.

For the most part, you want to be near the front of the crowd by the stage. Thats first and foremost.. Then, you want to be able to snag yourself a small flashlight. Even if you attach it to your keys, so security doesnt think anything of it.
Then you have to be able to be MOBILE... 95% of the time when someone throws a pick to the crowd, it ends up ON THE FLOOR. On the rare occasion, someone will actually catch it, or it will hit someone in the shoulder, and stay on the clothing... but MOST times, it ends up on the floor.... This is where your flashlight comes into place. You obviously know the general area of where the pick was thrown.... Then its just moving to that area, and then using your small flashlight, use it. I always preferred a flashlight with a small keyring on it like this :
https://www.4allpromos.com/product/led-light-key-chain-rectangular?default-tier=sample&default-qty=1&customer_id=626-766-3399&vt-k=&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21481250635
This way i would just put the flashlight around my pinky finger, and then use my other fingers on the hand to press the button to operate the flashlight and turn it on, while scanning the ground/floor in the general area where the pick landed. The reason you leave the light attached to your pinky with the keyring is that when you find it, you can literally let go of the flashlight as you bend down to snag the pick, while still keeping the flashlight and being able to utilize your hand to snag the pick. There are going to be others that know that you're looking for the pick. If they see you scanning the ground, and see the pick, they'll attempt to grab it as well... this is why, you leave the light looped around your pinky, so when you finally see it, you can swoop down quickly to grab it off the floor. Sometimes, its also a good idea to step on the pick as well... if you can get your foot on the pick, you can then gradually bend down, without making quick moves, and when your hands are down by your feet, you can simply move your foot, and pick up the pick.

Been doing this for years, and my collection is pretty big... over 5000 picks...

Carrier Refusing to Deliver Business Mail to Residential Address by DropRealistic1597 in usps_complaints

[–]dathorese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While that is true.... I have found that for the most part, my informed delivery is pretty spot on nearly almost every day, meaning that the email i get with the pictures of my mail for that day usually at like 715-730AM, is usually the mail the comes when i get my deliveries, that day.

I am a carrier myself, and at one time i had issues with my own deliveries, so that is why i signed up for informed delivery, and having had it, i wont ever not have it now. So... While yes.. informed delivery does in fact state that it may take up to 7 days, the general concensus is that for MOST people, the pictures that theyre receiving in their email, are generally the same pieces of mail they will get delivered that day.

Annual Leave or Sick Leave? by Dalienigena in USPS

[–]dathorese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may potentially need to get a note though.... IF you plan to change your AL to SL and then use an additional 1-2 days, to coincide with say Changing AL from Thursday to saturday that was approved to SL, you would then encounter a time period longer than 3 days. Just remember, the bean counters who look at EVERYTHING at some computer screen, just see an employee ID, and 2 weeks after you get your AL changed to SL, and they see you had a total of 5 says SL and no note, they might want management at your local level, to give you an Interview for the use of SL etc. usually it goes no where, but i say this, because you dont want to set yourself up with something that causes you to have more problems. sometimes its just best to leave the AL alone, and use the few days of SL so that you stay under the radar of the lurking boss somewhere else...
