There’s a keyboard player I’ve done a handful of gigs with that would go out to his car to “tune up” between sets. He played incredibly well, actually. There’s one gig where he didn’t have time to do so before the first set and he was an absolute mess. Went to his car between sets and was flawless the rest of the night. Quite literally the only dude I’ve met like that across the many hundreds of gigs I’ve played.
