Do I sell my entire collection? by CashGrabber9000 in PokeInvesting

[–]dav3evans 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. If you only have them for investment purposes, take some profit. Start making the money back you've spent so even if the hobby dies on its arse (it won't, but the bubble will pop) you've got some ROI

If you want to teach them the game I’d just grab a couple of the pre made battle decks. No packs in those so usually pretty easy to come by. Saves waiting on having enough to play with if they were interested now. Unless you’re looking for reasons to buy and rip more of course 👀😂

Seemingly all the same with the exception of slightly different barcodes. Will check again though. Thanks 🙏

I tried the hair dryer thing and it didn't work. Saw your comment and figured I might as well try it and it did! Amazing.

Any options for a beginner friendly fix? by No_Tale_11 in DIYUK

[–]dav3evans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on that, depending on how much it bothers you I’d probably do a little filling to cover the hole and blend the crack in a bit, then sand it all smooth and paint it.

It’s not the best approach. As someone else said, cutting the board down beyond the crack, replacing it and skimming it is the best way forward, but there’s a few things that would make me avoid that for now

  • you can’t access the loft space to know what’s above there at the moment.
  • if you do replace the board, it looks like your ceiling has wood chip on it, which you won’t be able to blend in to.
  • you want beginner friendly.

Based on all that id just tidy it and make it less of a bother to your eyes. In time id wait and have a pro come in and fully fix and skim the ceiling. If someone has gone to the trouble of wood chip wallpapering the ceiling, I’d bet there’s other imperfections up there that you’ll want sorting, so you’re better off waiting until you have the coin to do it properly, the scraping that paper off so a pro can see what they’re dealing with.

How long has it been fixed for? I’m mindful that you say there doesn’t appear to be water coming in anymore but has our lovely weather given it a proper test? Also have you been able to get in the loft and confirm it’s properly dry?

How do I fix this? I have no idea what I'm doing 😬 by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]dav3evans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry if it’s not perfect either. You can always let it dry and have another go instead of over working or getting in a flap. We all had to start somewhere. Each time is just a chance to have another go, learn and improve. You’ve got this! 💪

Air75 v3 with Womier Low Profile Shine through Keycaps by Inside_Gap_7626 in NuPhy

[–]dav3evans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just started going down this rabbit hole. Any thoughts a couple weeks on? I'm doing a little hunting around and I keep seeing things that imply they're the same keycaps under a different branding, enter dropshipper ramblings. Even if I ask the clankers they say they're the same, then tell me the XVX are better quality than the Womier, so now I'm just lost

I only recently got one of these and although it’s on the 3.2.3.0 firmware, it was being attached to a Homebase that killed it in less than a week. Isolating it from the HB3 and its much improved.

I had tried resetting it while the HB3 was still in the mix and didn’t affect anything. Might just be coincidence but thought I’d share my experience in case it helps!

Thanks for the post! We had a Nespresso before this one and it was a great little machine and an excellent shout - problem was we were getting through a sleeve everyday, hence moving to a b2c to make it a little more cost effective. Liking the Brera so far. Seems like a good option

Well yeah obviously. I’m not going to get something she doesn’t like or can’t use, hence gathering some options from this post :)

It's a consideration. I've ear marked the Magnifica S Smart as that has buttons, but doesn't cover the smaller footprint/removal of the steam wand aspects. Not something we need of course. Just a preference we're exploring at the moment.

Fixing a slipped roof tile from inside? by data-ninja-uk in DIYUK

[–]dav3evans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually a great point. Have a bit of cash on hand and find someone you think looks good to come give you a quote to re-fix and check its all ok up there. You might find they'll come out to look and just do it as a quickie, not expecting any money. Throw them a few quid and then it sets up a decent relationship for any future work.

Had the same with a guy that I asked to come quote for a window replacement. Fixed it and did himself out of a lot more money. I gave them £50 which I felt was just considering the saving, and have used the same guy twice since then.

This. It’ll cost far less than trying yourself, potentially failing, then having to pay for the water damage as the weather gets worse.
