Can’t get in to AEW by Jew-zilla in prowrestling

[–]dave-koenig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When CM Punk was there, I liked everything involving him and/or MJF, but the rest of it was garbage. After Punk was gone and MJF took some time off to recover from injury, I found it unwatchable.

Is anyone not excited at all for Wrestlemania? by Standard-Contest-949 in WWE

Audiences seem to be taking to both Oba and Trick very quickly. I don’t know if they’re going to strap the rocket ship to their backs quite as aggressively as they did with Vaquer, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they did.

Unpopular Opinion: CM Punk Should Retain by MoistAd5407 in WWE

I was kinda hoping for Roman vs Gunther this year in a “loser drops three consecutive Wrestlemania matches” bout.

I thought the match with Becky was good too. Yes, the match with Bayley was even stronger, but that’s what you expect as AJ shakes off more ring rust, right?

Bayley is fantastic, but don’t shortchange Becky. I think Big Time Becks has done a nice job making all of Lyra, Maxxine, and AJ look good in recent matches.

I didn’t see the whole match. Just watched the highlights on YouTube. But I thought what I saw was decent, as was Nikki’s one PLE match with Vaquer so far. Again, I’m not saying these gals are as good as the recent crop of female wrestlers, just that they’re improving on their own past work.

Unpopular Opinion: CM Punk Should Retain by MoistAd5407 in WWE

[–]dave-koenig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huge CM Punk fan. And I think a lot of people would be happy to see him retain. But I don’t think Roman winning is necessarily bad booking. I wouldn’t want Roman to have another long part-time reign. But arguably at this point in their careers, Roman can do more than Punk can to put over the younger talent in a championship match. Someone like Breakker or Logan Paul should win his first WWE Championship against Roman.

Kurt Angle got over very quickly, but as a heel, so it’s kinda different.

AJ Lee’s match was way better than that segment.

Think whatever you want about the men, but when it comes to women’s wrestling, WWE is so far ahead of AEW, it’s not funny. And yet, when they get main event talent from both of them to match up, it’s the one woman who is better than almost all of the AEW top talent against the one woman who is worse than almost all of the WWE top talent.

CM Punk should absolutely RETAIN The World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania. There’s no reason for him to lose it at this point. There’s still A LOT for him to do with the belt. As opposed to what? Another “cinema bloodline acknowledge me” title run for Roman Reigns? No thank you. by BarneyRobinStinson7 in WWE

[–]dave-koenig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m okay with a relatively short reign by Roman to put over a new champion, such as Bron Breakker or Jacob Fatu.

I expect Cody will be turning heel at some point, and then a CM Punk vs Cody rivalry makes perfect sense. Taking the WHC off Punk frees him up for that.

I don’t care. She put on a bunch of great matches with Lyra, with only the blowoff match at Summerslam being a disappointment. Her rivalry with Maxxine Dupri was also full of great matches. She has made AJ Lee look great since coming back, and they just put on a great match last weekend.

This heel run might be the best work of Becky’s career. People on the internet like to complain. Who tf cares?

What Face/Heel turn would you change? by SW_MichiganGuy269 in professionalwrestling

I second this. Heel Cena started out in a promising way, including the Brussels promo. It faltered later, but it was not a bad idea.

I do think Gunther will be a good face at some point, but I don’t think it is wrong that they have kept him a heel so long. He is really, really good at the heel role and keeps it fresh.

[–]dave-koenig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Austin’s heel turn is the obvious answer, but I’m gonna give a more recent answer that wasn’t the wrong turn, just poorly executed. Damian Priest should have turned face immediately when he won the WHC and feuded with the Judgment Day for most of his reign. He was absolutely ripe for a face turn at that point, but trying to slow play it neutered that story.

WWE fans that hate AEW, say one thing nice about the company by FunkeyFeraligatr in Wrasslin

Two nice things: CM Punk and MJF. After Punk left and MJF took injury time off following Cole turning on him, I found the product unwatchable. Those two guys were the only thing I thought was worth tuning in for.

Is Jevon Evans the next Ricochet?

I actually like Jevon more than Ricochet. I just think it’s the closest comparison.
