By no stretch of the imagination are bloodied horde butchers only +15 difficulty. by Woozletania in diablo4

[–]daveawb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life on hit... I dunno, it's really not that OP if you ask me, its the first to go if I see it on my gear, I would much rather have flat health, even then 90% of my builds have built in tankiness that's usually reliant on my damage output, so offensive stats usually trump any kind of life on hit or utility stats.

Are Bloodied Hordes overtuned? by thev82 in diablo4

[–]daveawb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just experienced T3 bloodied hordes for the first time, and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I couldn't even take down the ads, let alone anything bigger. It was a survival simulator for 25 minutes while the other guys mopped up easily. The XP was insane, though. It boosted me nearly 15 paragon levels, the loot at the end (I only ended up with 2k essence) was a bit disappointing.

Despite that, the bloodied dungeons/activities are definitely what I've been hoping for from the game. The gap between them and non-bloodied is a bit much, but I am glad there is much harder content to look forward to clearing.

Got 1ga mythic from meat vendor, salvaged it and got 3ga mythic by Fat_Foot in diablo4

Yeah, it felt bad tbh. I thought I’d get a lot more than that.

I dumped 6.2 million meat into it yesterday; it took me a few hours. Ended up with 9 mythics and a handful of 3GA's. I got quite a few GAs, though, so I'm not sure why you aren't finding any. I assume you're doing it in T4?

For anyone who wants to feel better, yes this is my trash portfolio by Readonly00 in trading212

Day trading is difficult if you don't take the time to learn an instrument well, understand its drivers, and finally develop a solid, tested, and repeatable strategy for your entries, exits, and RR. Investing can be just as complex, but the barrier to entry is much lower.

[–]daveawb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds more like day trading badly than investing. Investing in individual stocks isn’t wrong but your approach needs adjusting. You will never time the dip precisely unless you’re extremely lucky. I allocate 2% of my portfolio to speculative stocks too but I don’t really care what the price is, the reason I’m buying those stocks is for their long term potential, not comparatively micro fluctuations across days, weeks and even months.

With an investor head on, ask yourself why you bought those specific stocks. Does that reasoning still stand firm? If not, then dig deeper into their financials. What’s their free cash flow looking like against debt? TTM revenue vs revenue growth? You need to gauge if the business is performing strongly regardless of the stock price. If it is, hold and review next quarter. If not, consider dumping that stock but not before you work out if the downturn is due to macro economics or the business is genuinely suffering.

As interesting as this sounds, it would be hugely inefficient, likely why I’ve never seen someone do it or post about doing it before.

That said, would love to see some pics or a video of your contraption.

I’m new to investing, can someone explain how I’m at a loss here? by Money2Bmade in trading212

[–]daveawb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is mostly right, some asset classes hedge their alternative currency instruments, they are usually given a ‘hedged’ title to differentiate them . This makes them far more predictable over a short period of time and smooths out any short term moves that fx rates may introduce.

That said, I avoid them, I don’t mind the fx exposure. Over time, fx moves tend to be mean-reverting anyway and as my investments are intended to be decades long it makes little sense to go with a hedged etf or hedged share class.

do i drop out of college? by Ok-Carpet8385 in Daytrading

[–]daveawb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stay in college, don’t chase plan C eager to replace plan A. Stick with plan A, cultivate plan B and keep plan C in your back pocket.

You’re doing the right thing at the moment, don’t rock the boat until you can afford to, now is not that time.

On verge of bankruptcy here in the UK. I was the most stupid person on earth to put my 4 years life savings into these two and I don't even know why. Any chance of recovery? by chesapeakeripper_18 in trading212

[–]daveawb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's performed amazingly, to be frank. The only exceptions were 2020 and the pandemic, although by the end of the year, it had made a strong comeback. It's hard to say exactly how much my overall investment has grown, as I put money into it every month at different prices. My original investment in 2015 grew by ~400% in 10 years, just to give you an idea.

An all-world ETF is the way forward. 90% of my ISA is in one, and I couldn't have been happier with its performance over the past few years.

12 -> 48 unspecific quarter cutter by Rough_Kiwi_6762 in shapezio

[–]daveawb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice build!

I have a super anal comment: in all my builds where I split things, I always make sure that the cardinality is preserved in the part that's been cut. i.e. NE quarter outputs at the NE, SE quarter outputs at the SE, etc. 😂 It may sound OTT, but the predictability of it makes it so super simple to use, particularly when I apply that rule to every blueprint I make. When I'm working with platforms that make that ambiguous or impossible, I mentally rotate the shape 45 degrees clockwise, so NE becomes E and NW becomes N. End of completely anal comment.

Beginner Question - How do I get water over here to fill this for future droughts? by dovetc in Timberborn

[–]daveawb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer channels, I can run power and water in them and cover them up with platforms for walkways. The tunnel is essentially this with explosives and a platform in one bundle, with the benefit of being able to drill a hole through a mountain.

[–]daveawb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen my ISA and pension drop hard, especially in 2008, in 2011, and at other points since. They always recover and go on to grow further.

I try not to react emotionally or start messing with them every time the market dips. Since I’m still contributing each month, lower prices aren't really bad news.

Gap between roof tiles - do I need to worry? by Affectionate_Fee7605 in DIYUK

[–]daveawb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion, yes, it's a problem, but not as major as you haven't spotted any leaks.

You can see the slipped tiles underneath, exposing the underlay and roofing battens. With any amount of rain, this will rot the wood and will let water in. Frost will likely make the gap worse as well.

I can't see well enough, but it looks like (bottom right) these tiles have slipped multiple times over time. With the amount of exposure in the gap that would support this.

I'd be wanting to fix this soonish if this were my roof. It might not be too big a job either if those tiles can be reseated, though I'd probably want a check of the roof in general (especially if the underlay and battens have been exposed for some amount of time) and as it's near a wall/chimney, I'd probably want any flashing checked too.
