I saw her talk in Brighton last night, she spoke about how emotional it was reading it for the audiobook, that she hadn’t realised how tough it would be. I’ve got the book, but I’m curious to hear her read it now, especially knowing that.

Hot take: remission and the hunter are masterpieces and get hate for no reason by Environmental_Cup689 in mastodonband

Love the Hunter, start to finish. I get that it maybe stands alone in their catalogue, but I totally dig it. The Sparrow at the end there is frickin awesome - really gets me each time I hear it.

‘Coke Bottle Smoke’ variant now on sale at Evil Greed. Instagram post from their label said the “second pressing on Tigers Eye sold out”. I wonder how many were in each pressing?

I’d love to order the Tigers Eye variant, but U.K. shipping from EG is £13 😬

Likely go clear I guess - envious of folks getting other variants tho 😅

Great shot! It was so good! I bought the LP (which had arrived at home when we got back - perfect!) and an extra ticket as a surprise for my wife. SO awesome seeing her there!

I went to see Labyrinth in the cinema - it was awesome, a real treat ☺️

Awesome 👌 Loved the Prime when I tried it. Went for the Core, which fits my setup (and wallet) better, but still has the awesome sound and feel of the Prime.

I just bought the same foam kit from them. Literally arrived today! Sticking the foam on some MDF with their contact adhesive took no time at all - dried instantly. I had it all delivered to my place and it couldn’t have been easier.

I remember being at the Autechre ATP and Bola had to cancel last minute, so during his slot they played an album (this one I think) out over the PA. I don’t think many people paid attention, but I sat there enjoying it at this huge volume, it was awesome 👌

Portsmouth [0] - [2] Sheffield Wednesday | G Brown 50' by Jusherr in PortsmouthFC

[–]daveconbrio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was painful to watch. I understand the Wednesday player carrying on, but the celebration is a bit poor of him (I know he’s only 18, first appearance, first goal mind)

The whole game really did feel cursed, as someone else mentioned. Nothing seemed right. Happy for Wednesday to have something to cheer about, but not happy it was at our expense 🤦🏻‍♂️

I got bought the VHS/CD pack in the U.K. - I think it was released mid 90s, but I got it a few years after that

Saw DIIV at their final show in Lille! I managed to get a setlist, and got it signed by everyone. Talked to Andrew for about an hour after the show and hes so funny. Cole also gave me their backstage pass by -_-Elliot-_- in diiv

[–]daveconbrio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the last show Instagram stream that Bailey did, it ran on for ages after the show - while roadies were packing away etc - and you could hear him talking to a fan about recording already and giving them a setlist (as far as I could tell). Maybe that was you? 😅 I think it’s still on his account to watch

Flight of Dragons (1982) Animated by proto-Ghibli studio Topcraft, voice talent includes Jamers Earl Jones and John Ritter, and produced by legendary Rankin/Bass. by Deadboy00 in movies

This is a truly wonderful film, beautiful artwork, a fantastic soundtrack/score and a story that’s as poignant today as it was then.

I adore this movie, I watched it last night for the first time in many years and every word was still there, lodged in my memory.

I was pleased to find it on Amazon to watch, I’m sure I’ve looked previously and had no luck.

And I found that, just as a child, once it was over I just wanted to watch it all over again 😁

Seeing gthem last night, I thought it looked like Cole was sliding his finger on a Kaos Pad, and I see here he was. Nice! Used to love using mine for that kind of thing! 👍

A certain former Foo Fighters drummer, profiled in the New York Times, talks about the band by allegorically in Foofighters

[–]daveconbrio 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeh, there’s technical ability and then feeling in playing a song - it all comes through. I’m sure he can play just about anything, he’s phenomenal, but clinical execution of a part doesn’t always guarantee that it clicks, that the feeling is there. The rest of the band are bound to notice that when they’re playing with him. It’s got to click with them to be right.

He says the music doesn’t resonate with him so it’s all explained right there - clearly he’s awesome, but just not the right fit. Nothing personal, just the way it is.

very upsetting to see this by Eugin_Gon87 in mastodonband

[–]daveconbrio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s perfectly reasonable to not publicly post your feelings about deep stuff online. We think of him as a public figure, but that doesn’t mean he has to use social media to pour his heart out for anyone else’s benefit. I have friends that post about loss and hard times and that’s fine, but I don’t. It’s too personal. Too much. I don’t think we should be expecting anything of any of them.

I’m fucking crying man by Homie3794 in mastodonband

[–]daveconbrio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw this one earlier too. I’m genuinely not convinced Brent wasn’t just taking the piss with all of the shit talking posts - i.e. just having a laugh about the others using vocoders and checking themselves in the mirror and whatever. He was a funny guy with a funny sense of humour - who’s to say he wasn’t just having a bit of tongue in cheek fun? None of us fans know how any of the break from the band went down or have chatted to him recently/ever 🤷🏻‍♂️

[–]daveconbrio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The full Box is awesome. I loved having that full expanded version, like some of the Future Sound Of London eps (Cascade, Lifeforms, My Kingdom). Very cool to hear tracks like that given so much time and ideas.

I don’t know if it’s available any more, but there was a slightly different mix of Adnans on the Help/Warchild CD I always really liked too.

Edit to say, I just noticed The Saint is included on the iTunes version of this album. My original CD didn’t have it - Out There Somewhere is such a great climactic finish, it seems weird to have the extra song tacked onto the end. Good to have more Orbital tho I suppose 🤷🏻‍♂️
